991.2 GT3 RS Mule

Peak power is still at 8,250 rpm on the .2 GT3 like the .1 - don't see moving the redline up giving you more HP, will obviously need other changes.
Always amusing what the press thinks they can tell form some images of a car...

It will be the 4.0. This new engine can stick around a little bit. Figure abot 530 ponies with a 9200 redline. It will have some Fufu dust to give it more of a ram air affect and will have even more down force than the current model
Nick- I will bet you that greater than 40 percent of the .2 GT3s will be Manual. If you are a Stealership how are you going to order it. They will all order them with Manuals because that is how they will make coin

There are plenty of 4.2L (and larger) 911 motors in the aftermarket from all kinds of shops (including Manthey in Germany which has close ties to the factory).
Here is a thread with some big displacement stuff:

the RSR of the time was running a 4.0 engine? there is no motorsport car with a 4.2 now, I'd have thought a 4.2 in the road car would be somewhat less likely unless there was a convenient part that could be raided from the parts bin to make the extra capacity (petevb had spotted it previously for the 991rs to go to a 4.0 iirc).

Likely a 2019 Model year car. They have to produce the .2 GT3 and sell it. They have to produce the 2RS and sell it.
Lots of choices seem to be in the offing.
Still time to enjoy my 991.1RS. On my dealers list so we shall see.
What is really tantilzing is the mention of a mid engined GT3/RS. I have been saying this.
Anyway the .2GT3 just got upstaged before it was even offered for sale.

.2 RS is coming, and will be announced next spring.
I expect a normal not LE production run. Dealers who paid over MSRP to buy .1RS from other dealers will lose money on .1RS but make even more on .2RS as there will be a huge craze over the .2RS likely being the last NA RS.
.2 RS will be 4.0L, 525-530hp with same torque and same redline. Porsche won't increase redline or displacment as neither is necessary for another 25HP and either would increase risk of engine failures and Porsche engineers are quite capable of getting another 25hp out the 4.0L GT3/RSR/R engine with same 9K redline.
And as NateOz mentioned, the peak power is already 750 below 9000rpm right now. Increasing the max RPM won't accomplish anything.

^^ Drifting your projections makes sense , I was kidding on previous post of 4.2 with a 9,912 red line.
just seems to me P hustling this .2 RS out the door or leaking spy shots anyway before the .2 3 is even being delivered here .

To make more hp with same torque, the torque has to be made at higher revs.
Hp is calculated with torque and rpm values...

Lots of GT's in the pipeline in a shortened .2 run.
992 will be upon us before we know it.
There has to be some NA options going into next gen 992. Don't think they'll be chasing the HP game too hard correct? How much more do you really need?
Maybe having an NA niche will serve them well?
