991.2 GT3 will come with "Touring Package" option
#1441
Regular GT3 isn't as bad. Gets noticed, but RS is over the top. The positive is that people get out of your way real quick when they see that wide front end and wing all up in their rear view mirror.

The configurator needs work however - still showing photos with the wing for the build and the regular interior etc. Evidently they haven't updated it but here is info:
Changes to standard 911 GT3 equipment:
Exterior
Deletion of fixed rear wing. Automatically extending rear spoiler with aerodynamic lip (Gurney Flap). Unique rear lid grille with “GT3 touring“ badge. Tailpipes, side window trim, and headlight cleaning system covers in high gloss silver. Rear lid with “PORSCHE“ logotype in high gloss silver. Front turn signals and taillights not tinted. Wheel center caps with monochrome Porsche crest.
Interior
Equipment in leather instead of Alcantara®: Steering wheel rim, shift lever, door panel arm rest, door pull handle, center console storage compartment lid. Stitching in black instead of Platinum Grey. All seat variants with black cloth seat centers and Porsche crest embossed in headrest. Interior trim package in black brushed aluminum on door panels, dashboard trim, and center console.
Drivetrain
6-speed GT Sport manual transmission, dual-mass flywheel adapted for 4.0 liter engine, self-adjusting dual-disc clutch. Porsche Torque Vectoring (PTV) including mechanical differential lock with asymmetrical locking (30% Traction / 37% Overrun)
Note: Available November 2017 at the earliest

If one had a GT2 RS coming in a March would you go wingless for this car? I was praying for rear seats on this model!

Q: "How does Porsche stop flippers?"
A: "Build the 991.2 R, or also known as the "GT3 Touring"
Bravo Porsche.

Race Car
I am trying to build a car as close as possible to my 964 RS so it will be:
- Guards red
- Black touring package
- Silver wheels
- Red Belts
- LWBS Seat
- Bi-xenon pdls lights
- front lift
- and a couple of other things
Considered PCM delete but in Europe you really can't go anywhere without satnav so will leave it in.

For me, this is the only 911 I would be interested in. I actively chose a Cayman GTS instead of a GT4, because I do most driving on the road and I feel the wing is (for me) somewhat out of place on the road. I do however do a couple of track days every year, but the GTS works just fine. I am definitely not chasing lap times, I want to have fun when taking my car to the limit (and beyond ). Therefore the GTS has an M/T. I can definitely imagine a 911 again, but with everything except the GT3 turbocharged these days, I'm not interested. But, what stopped me from going into GT3 range is obviously the wing and the "racey" message it sends out.
I would spec the car exactly as the CGTS, Agate Grey with Black satin wheels. And obviously the Black exterior details for the Touring Package...
With the GT3T, I now have the (theoretical) possibility of having a 4.0l, 500hp, 9000rpm, M/T road car, that will work just fine for my 3-4 track days/year. What's not to like? Except maybe trying to get an allocation and then probably having to sell a body part or maybe one of the kids. Wifey won't be impressed. (rear seat discussion flies over my head, my kids grew out of our 997S five years ago...)

How exactly is this going to stop flipping...? The R horse has long bolted, the touring is an option on the gt3 which is currently having it's fill of speculators tucking into the market. I honestly fail to see how this changes anything.

I never realised GT3 without wing would look so boring. Yawn.
UPDATE: After seeing the pictures of black one, I now actually think it's beautiful. I was never a fan of silver wheels on black cars, but with chrome on windows it's a whole different thing. This configuration looks as bada$$, as black 930.
I don't think I will tick the "touring" box when (if) I'll get my allocation, but I would probably consider it if I would be up to MT.

It's not an RS.
But it's a cool raw old-school alike Über-Carrera for masochists. I believe Porsche can sell a lot of these cars, as they will be desired by much more than just GT3 crowd. The problem is - Porsche can't produce enough of them.

i agree i keep trying to pick a color but i keep looking at the launch photo and the black with chrome trim has a very classic look to it...i may ultimately just replicate that car.
the wheels look like the standard finish, they don't look like the painted aluminum which I would think matches the silver trim better.
what I also can't tell is the rear mesh lid. its black here but I think the configurator suggests its silver-ish on the standard touring trim.

I heard that from my Porsche Center: 911T on the basis of 370 HP base Carrera, some tweaks to the interior, small fixed spoiler (ducktail?). However, they believed that the 911T would be announced at the IAA in Frankfurt, which is obviously not the case. The next "duck in the row" would be the LA Autoshow in December, I guess.
