So what does this mean for 991.1 RS??

Why would anyone buy a .2GT3 and be surprised/put off by Porsche following the regular pattern of releasing an RS the following year?
Admittedly, it seemed like there was (is?) a chance that they weren't going to do it, but that level of speculation surely didn't affect anyone's thought process?
And, why would anyone who was in a position to be thinking about buying a GT2RS at twice the price be changing their mind because a slight better 3RS is on the horizon?
More like there will be plenty choice of GT3/RS/2RS over next year or so, and the demand should be segmented enough so that not everyone is chasing the same supply to the same extent as previously. Which is a good thing, no?

Also now rethinking 2RS.
They made no attempt to camouflage it either. Odd. Seemed like a quickie rear quarter change on .2
It will have to offer more than just 25hp more to make me trade in.
Likely not a 4.2. They are not racing a 4.2. Maybe 535hp, active aero and LE?
Damn they got me again..

You are not the typical $200k car buyer.
Like Mooty said.
A lot of buyers that don't want to wait, buy latest and greatest and then trades it back in for next latest and greatest.
They don't read Rennlist, might pick up a car magazine in the airport every now and then.

Nope - I said exactly what I meant. Rational people are not surprised/put off. Rational people would never want what they current own to be the best with no advancement or improvement.
Rennlist is filled with every type of person.
How many people have stated/predicted:
1. .2 GT3 will be turbo
2. .2 GT3 will only be PDK
3. .1RS will be last NA
4. GT cars will never go past 8,600 RPM
5. 500 HP is max output out of a 4.0 liter
6. countless other statements
Actually, many of your predictions have been accurate - you have a pulse on sports cars.

ok in Europe at least GT3 991 RS prices -20k over the last 2 weeks as orders for the manual 991.2 GT3 build, I would guess given existing supply another -20K to come by mid summer

Any future RS is going to be priced significantly higher than the current version. I think a hike of 20% is not unthinkable. Therefore a reasonably spec'd car would be around the $230-$245k (plus tax) mark. The financials could put a lot of potential buyers off, especially those who the car is really intended for... the track guys!
Bearing in mind that the US and rest of the world values are almost entirely different, the current RS is in a niche of affordability and performance that remains unmatched and that could ensure values stay at, or move slightly above MSRP. As far as huge drops...not likely any time soon or even after the .2 RS is launched. In fact I am of the opinion that in a few years, values will increase significantly!
Just my perspective.

I'll offer a slightly different perspective on values... BTW, I hate the financial aspects of the topic.
