Some parts changed from 2013 to 2016 but these are used in both engines.

Sorry to say that but its absolutely wrong. Have a look in the parts cataloque. The gen 1 3.8 and 4.0 engines are basically the same. Pistons, conrods, crankshaft and ecu are different. All other parts are shared. Even the camshafts are the same.

AP lied? Don't think so. Parts catalog not accurate. How many times have catalogs not been totally accurate when you call tech. If we go by what your saying PAG just punched out the 4.0 and called it a day and dropped it in the GT3R, RS and R.
Not likely for many reasons. Catalog is off.
Try it out. Order a cam from the catalogue without more follow up with tech for a 4.0 and run it in your 3.8 and let us know how that works out.
Catalogue is clearly off in details.

i am tracking average selling prices for the GT3, RS and R in Germany and RS prices have not gone down, if at all they have moved up a little, supply is pretty stable with 77 cars available right now
R average prices have gone down by 10-20%, latest listings are around 430K Euro, so still double MSRP, 11 for sale right now
first GT3.2 is listed as 27K Euro over MSRP

One thing I've learned being on this board for over 8 years....its an aberration. Its not reflective of the real life market on GT cars. What people say they can get an RS in here for is usually way way off or it is the one in a million lucky shot.
