I honestly don't care... with my local dealer, having an RS that I'd be willing to trade in for sticker means I'm higher up the list to get the next one at MSRP. I bought this one over sticker to "join the club" (and get it today!) instead of eating depreciation on a non-GT car and have been driving it more than the average guy (5500 miles). What more could I possibly ask for?
I got lucky on my RS7 and sold it for 10k over sticker with 10,000 miles to an NBA player, but every dealership wanted to give me 40k less than sticker!
I refuse to let the mileage and depreciation thoughts ruin my enjoyment of this car. Not going to let it happen and I feel sorry for people who are owned by those thoughts.

I would expect prices with ADM's to put prices in the $300K range again for quite some time. Demand was off the hook for the .1GT3RS and expect the .2GT3RS to be no different. High demand = high markups.
Unless you got an in with a dealer that does not sell at markup and are on the list like me
its going to be Ground Hog Day here all over again and again and again....
I wouldn't be surprised that the .1GT3RS may actually go back up in value with that scenario and be priced anywhere between $35,000 to $40,000.00 less then the new .2.
Nothing wrong with the 991.1GT3RS. Its an epic car and an RS. Yes, the .2 will be better in some respects but that doesn't mean the 991.1RS is not still epic and will remain very desireable.

If you just wait long enough, don't drive the car and time your exit perfectly you might actually make a bit of money on a 991.1rs.

Just visited local dealer and the had 6 RS for sale. 2 UV 2 LO 1 white and one PTS.
I didn't ask for the price because I wasn't mentally prepared for the brain damage that conversation would create, but its good to know there's backup in case I make a booboo.

The problem with your theory is that, unlike the last couple years while the 991.1 RS has been available new, there will now be the 991.2 GT3, GT2RS, GT3RS, probably a 981.2 GT4/GT4RS, and likely other 'special' Porsche models coming in the next year ahead of and during release of the 992. History will repeat itself...end of the model run is when Porsche releases 'special' models like crazy. There will be a lot of choices for Porsche GT buyers...the 991.1 RS is a great car and very desirable, but will only be the latest and greatest for a few more moments. Values going up in the short term? Maybe if the Dow hits 30k.

This whole thread seems devoted to justifying the value of the .1 RS now that the .2 GT3 has been released. I think this is all ridiculous and any one who owns an RS should not even be engaging in this rhetoric. I do not buy Porsche "GT" cars for my ego. I buy them because I love them and because I love driving the closest thing to a race car you can drive on the street. Those weekend morning drives make me feel "alive" again after a stressful week of work. It is reward I gift to Myself for working hard and not to justify my social position in life.

Also put things in context....aloto of initial blather about the .2 4.0 being "better" than the .1 4.0L not only because it now has a solid lifter valve train but also in light of the little black cloud over the 3.8 GT3 which as nothing to do with the .1 4.0L. When that blather starts up expect people to defend what they own. "Better" is relative. "Better" can also mean "better" in some respects but not all. "Better" doesn't mean the previous is no good or there is something wrong with it.
Alot of that here initially with the .2GT3 launch. I think it will fade in time.

Agree. My 997.2 had case porosity, RMS and i proactively did the coolant pipes before they popped. As stout as the GT cars are, they all have flaws. As with the 997 series flaws, the aftermarket will come to the rescue with a solution to make them even more reliable as the miles pile on. If anything, I'm going to guess that the 9A1 motors will end up more reliable as time goes on.
In spite of the flaws, I can't think of any other cars that stand up to track abuse quite as well. In the 30K miles I owned my last GT3, it just took consumables, fluids and regular maintenance and never once left me stranded on road or track. That car is still going strong. I see the tank as half full

Growing up in a swiss family I would always hear my grandfather say something like "he's such a schweitzer" which he used to mean "oh, he's so swiss" in the context of "he's a fricken cheapskate".
He ended up dying with a lot of money himself ... that money went to his sons who also don't spend any money and will also die with it.
I broke the cycle and will enjoy my days on earth driving awesome cars that may or may not be worth exactly what I paid for them.
Can't imagine wasting even a single earning second of said life posting down about a car I don't even own.
