Any future RS is going to be priced significantly higher than the current version. I think a hike of 20% is not unthinkable. Therefore a reasonably spec'd car would be around the $230-$245k (plus tax) mark. The financials could put a lot of potential buyers off, especially those who the car is really intended for... the track guys!

Bearing in mind that the US and rest of the world values are almost entirely different, the current RS is in a niche of affordability and performance that remains unmatched and that could ensure values stay at, or move slightly above MSRP. As far as huge drops...not likely any time soon or even after the .2 RS is launched. In fact I am of the opinion that in a few years, values will increase significantly!

Just my perspective.
Especially mine and indeed yours

I agree 100%. However, you missed one aspect that will again affect these cars. Dealer market adjustments or ADMs (Added Dealer Markup).

I would expect prices with ADM's to put prices in the $300K range again for quite some time. Demand was off the hook for the .1GT3RS and expect the .2GT3RS to be no different. High demand = high markups.

Unless you got an in with a dealer that does not sell at markup and are on the list like me its going to be Ground Hog Day here all over again and again and again....

I wouldn't be surprised that the .1GT3RS may actually go back up in value with that scenario and be priced anywhere between $35,000 to $40,000.00 less then the new .2.

Nothing wrong with the 991.1GT3RS. Its an epic car and an RS. Yes, the .2 will be better in some respects but that doesn't mean the 991.1RS is not still epic and will remain very desireable.

It doesn't matter what the price of the 991.2 GT3 RS (in 2018) might be short term as many existing owners of 991 GT3 RS want the 991.2 GT3 with more torque / rpm and manual shift and will P/X this year already, might help long term though

A Porsche dealer in Europe selling with a markup would lose the franchise

Nizer. Just call Cars for Kids'. They haul away for free. Tax deduction sadly not much since 991.1RS now worth next to nothing.

Look at the destruction the 997.1RS wrought to the 996RS. Look at the destruction visited on the 997.1RS by the 997.2RS. If history is any measure.

Yup total 991.1RS apocolypse.

Not.

My local dismantler doesn't want to touch it! Told me he can't do anything with carbon and magnesium bits!

Maybe we have a huge 991.1RS bonfire. I know magnesium puts on quite a show when burns.

I'll bring the marshmallows.

You are absolutely right. Not to mention that every generation RS is a snap shot of time. Does every new generation get better? Absolutely. Does that mean that the desirability of previous generation goes through erosion? By looking at the price of previous generations, I find that hard to believe. Every generation of RS is special in its own way. Also the 991.1 RS shares its engine with 911 R. That in itself make it more special. That is my 2 cents.

Love the idea mate.
Can we also sing, chant, and dance as the cars burn?
With our luck someone will turn up and slap a fine on us for littering!

Also, first RS of the 991 series. Shared engine with 2015 GT3R too. Acclaimed by the motoring press as the one of the best Porsche GT cars ever and loved and lusted after by nearly all. Its desirebilty drove prices well above $100K over MSRP and its performance equalled that of many above its weight class. It was an epic entry. Still is.

Quick Reply: So what does this mean for 991.1 RS??
