There are stories out there that they used a Trofeo R specifically formulated for the record attempt:

I see you're back on the Huracan again. If you would have done your research--much like HE should have, then you would have seen a few differences between that lap, the true 918 lap, and the performante lap. The 918 never reached 255kph at gantry.

There's no relevance anywhere to the 918's record lap is there?. Using the actual timing and speeds on the 7:00 data recorded vbox lap vs the performante's lap would be sufficient. If the performante is slower on most corners on a 7:00 lap, why should anything on a 6:57 even begin to come into it?
And Dale at BtG isn't even using the 918 data but Lambo's own SV lap anyway.

You can believe whatever you wish.
Personally, on a 7:00 lap, the 918 is considerably faster on the straights and not slower on most corners than what's supposed to be a 6:52 lap from the performante. That doesn't quite line up. Once you add in the Bridgetogantry post, it's a pretty convincing case that the 6:52 has been faked. I'd be much more likely to believe something with some numbers and data rather than 'lambo says so'.

cant wait for the performante... honestly wish they used the name Superleggera again (i had 08 SL) but heard the weight savings on the huracan was not anywhere near enough to describe as "superlight"
either way, the car is going to ROCK... debating classic white like last huracan or arancio borealis like the SL.

I do not have any skin in this game, and so far I refrained to make any comment. But, from the beginning I had this feeling that something is just does not add up with the Lambo time. In some way I wish it would be true, but then I just suspected some news will come and we will have a significant "correction".
The new aero bits they showed so far not even close what we see on, like the Viper ACR, very hard to believe the claimed increase in down force then the power gain also is relatively small. I bet the real time is around 7:12-15

I agree.
As annoying as "Boosted Boris" is, I find Misha to be very believable. From the first few minutes of watching the video I said "something seems off". Honestly, I could care less if this Lambo beats the 918....but improving over a regular Huracan by 30 seconds? Fishy. Beating a car that's faster around Portimao than a LaFerrari driven by the Chris Harris team? Fishy. Then, watching the video, I smelled a rat. Video looked fake. I'm no video expert, but I have watched enough ring laps to just sense something off about the speed of the video. Playback definitely look skewed.
Some doubt entered my mind because the sound seems real, and the pitch doesn't change. Plus the gear shifts match the sound. Way more complex than simply playback at 10% faster. Why would they do it, I asked?
Now, maybe I'm thinking they did?

Explains the completely steady hands/wheels at those speeds. Funny to watch the huge speed differential after gantry from one second to the next. How dumb are those VAG jokers, how far can cheating go in one automotive culture? This is going to be all anyone is talking about at Geneva lambo AND Porsche stands

"
The Pirelli P Zero Trofeo R tyres, in 245/30ZR20 at the front and 305/30ZR20 at the back were designed specifically by Pirelli’s engineers for the record attempt. The team was able to develop these tyres in just three months, thanks to advanced modelling techniques and correlation of on-track data with telemetry. As a result, the combined work of Pirelli and Lamborghini’s engineers meant that a base set-up was established with one development session."
After my track time in my 918, along side P1, lafa, 300 yards in the standard car is enough for me.......
