AMG GT-S is a fabulous driving car. Much more exciting then any Porsche with the exception of the GT3 series. It is raw, solid and simply more exhilarating. I own a CLA-45 AMG as a winter car. After more than a year, it has proven to be flawless and actually very enjoyable to drive. Benz has come a long way in the last few years.

BTW- Previously owned cars include 996 C2 cab, 997 C2S cab, 997.1 TT, 997 Turbo S cab, 2011 Boxster, 2016 Boxster S.

Why does a Nurburgring lap time that most likely no one in forum can duplicate matter. My opinion is nothing like a naturally aspirated engine hands down. Not worth a few seconds on the Nurburgring

OMG. Someone has finally said it!!!

Comical ain't it. Everyone chasing tenths of second between ungodly fast cars that they can never hope to come close to taping the potential.

Its a sickness.

Well he is just a journalist for the magazine and not a pro, but nevertheless great driving for sure. I expect pro times to be a few seconds better.

It's not a few seconds, it's about 10s+ faster than the RS and 15s+ faster than the GT3. On shorter tracks with lap times in the range of 1 to 2 minutes, the GT-R will be about 2s to 4s faster, which is quite a lot, considering that the RS and GT3 are already fast. The difference in pace will be very obvious to capable non-pro track drivers ... and to the drivers of the RS's and GT3's which they'll be passing.

The AMG lap is not a factory driver lap, it's a magazine time. The difference factory to factory under ideal conditions could be 20+ seconds vs the GT3. Major and impressive achievement by AMG

^^^ Agree. If this type of time was done by our P-cars everyone would be pounding their chest.

since this will be my first porsche. Maybe im not as touchy feely about another manufacturer making a car that runs a track i will never be on faster than the one i have on order. I ordered the car for the sound, the revs, and the whole experience. Maybe im the crazy one. If you offered me a gtr merc right now for free i would still rather be waiting for delivery of my rs.

Its called competition. In the 100 meter sprint, everyone talks about the winner, not who came second. The gt3 RS has had a lot of money poured into it so that it can achieve quick lap times. It's very important for the brand. As soon as you concede that it's not about speed / lap times, you have to question a lot of what makes the RS what it is. The wing on the tail makes it hard to see out the back, the front splitter scrapes all the time, pdk makes it less fun to shift etc.

I have no doubt Porsche will have taken note of that lap time and will also be conscious that the black series is still to come.
