to bring some action in this discussion, here are some good news from good old Germany:
- 991.2 GT3 will be naturally aspirated as expected
- it will get a more or less NEW NA engine
- expect about 490PS horsepower
- option will be 6 speed manual or PDK
- presentation will be probably Paris
- orders in Germany can be given in Q4/16
- production will begin in Q4/16
Remember the words ..., may the discussion begin .....
Here a new Video from NOS, in the first sequence, look at the rear beneath the wing,
new engine sounds great !

Oh, and your info is wrong. Production will not begging until June 2017. Car will not be released in Paris. It will be Geneva in March.

As to my best knowledge and to say it clear:
991.2 GT3 will be not using the 991.1 GT3 RS engine, also not with reduced power.
It is a new engine and of course with all the knowledge of previous GT3 engines, but not just an update.

So everyone is saying Porsche developed a new engine for the .2 GT3 ? Why? That'd be pretty expensive. Would VW corporate approve that when they're bleeding money? I highly doubt it!
I'd also like to hear from those that say it will be a " new " engine, what do they think will be " new "? It seems that AP has been painting the best fake Mona Lisa in enthusiasts mind when it comes to the differences between the GT3 and RS engines and you are honestly trying to tell people here they've decided to put a complete new one in the mid-cycle refresh?! Yeah...ok...

I don't agree with this. I think you are trusting the journalist to much. This engine will be the same as MA175/6 which by now are identical other than capacity and crank. PAG will not start fresh. This engine is the basis of their DFI race engine program....

The posts here crack me up. Some guys really have to be "that guy" that knows for sure exactly whats going on. Maybe they work for a supplier or know someone somewhere but I wouldn't be so adamant about anything. There are semi obvious clues as to whats coming but these guys are getting offended if someone calls them out on when the car will even be announced. Calm down!

Since the 991.2 GT3 will have a manual, they will put a 4.0 to limit revs to 8500RPM which is what happend with the R. If they stick a 3.8 and rev it only to 8500RPM it wouldn't make any sense.
