This really impressed me. I am used to a crate engine where you have to add cats and acc. This includes all electrical connections, cats, and makes the install very easy. It is obvious the engine was run as the headers and cats are slightly discolored from heat but everything is exceedingly clean.

18K miles in 9 months has to be a record, if not, damn close. Smooth sailing to boot.

G6 engine in with BMC air filter for better breathing. Pick her up at noon for some road work this weekend! Seems like forever! We will probably hit C&C in Celebration and the Gold Coast Car Show in Pompano Beach. Need those break in miles!

Hi GT3 KSA

There is a entry by JWW in the comments section noting the yellow PCCBs were painted red to match the Martini livery.

CDinSing, congrats on getting the car back together. Enjoy.

I have the GT3 with G engine. There is reference to a "G6" engine in posts above. Is this different to the standard G and can one see it in the VIN number?

With probably 4000 GT3s and say 1000 RSs made any idea of percentage affected???

This might be posted in the wrong sections, mods please feel free to move it.

A friend bought a 991 GT3 in Jan 2015, it came from a Porsche dealer and had only 30 miles on the speedo but aparently was not new, ie someone had owned it since mid 2014 and handed it back. My friend is now wondering has his engine

A been Replaced or
B Had modifications carried out by Porsche.

The dealer he bought it from did not do any work. For your info the engine is an E series and code MA 185.

How can he find out the answers, or perhaps someone here knows ?

Thanks in advance.

The G1 and G6 engines are the newer replacement units PAG have been installing U. Customers cars that have had the misfire. They have the ceramic coated cams.

There were approx 3500 991 GT3 produced and it looks like well over 4000 x RS so far to date.

All cars are potentially affected other than the 900x R and the last 1500 or so RS which had the newer G1 engine with the dlc cams..

The MA175 engine has the number laser engraved on the bottom of the engine on a steel tab. Drop the tray and if the engine is "e0xxxx" then it's the original (highly unlikely) or if it's "e1xxxx" it's the replacement after stop sale. The clock should not have been reset after the change as the chassis and transmission still have mileage on them and from a legal standpoint at least in most markets it was not possible to zerobtbe history...

In a GT3 only way you will have s G1 or G6 is if you received a replacement engine in last few months. E fine number is stamped/engraved on plate lower crank case visible under bash plate when car is on hoist etc...
