Funny you mention that. Mine had a bog last week (first time) and yesterday it didn't seem to have as much power. I will see how it does today, but fingers crossed this F is on the way out.

Keep us posted Rob. I'm sure Mark (Macca) will be interested in the GT3 parts manual.

If this does become an issue bronson I will make sure i consult with Mark to make sure a thorough CSI is done. Too early to tell if anything is up, but i would be lying if i said my fingers and toes weren't crossed right now.

Car has just crossed 13,000 miles, with no track time and only 12-13 quarter mile runs. Drinks almost no oil, but it does smoke occasionally on startup. Very easy driving miles, as I almost always take the wife. And we both know how that ends up!

I think mine would be the test case for how much wear this engine takes from easy miles. Most of the time when i drive it for 2-3 hours i might jump on it a couple of times. This thing has been babied.

Take it to Autocross. Maybe all the fast changes of direction will set it off?

Seemed fine today, although power still seems a little less punchy. But the wife did say "oh ****" once or twice so it could be me. You know you guys will be the first to know if anything happens.

That is interesting. If the camshaft is new then it may have the black coating on! I thought that that was an innovation for the 991R and the very latest RSs. Did you check this to parts for the GT3 and not the RS?

Yes, thats it. They introduced the new dlc coated camshafts with motor #05373 (they count the GT3/RS/R motors consecutively).

The parts are identical for MA175 (3.8) and MA176 (4.0) engines. The engines only differ in displacement (crankshaft, con-rods, pistons).

As we allready told some times before, the GT3 / RS / R motors are basically identical. The changes in running production were applied to MA175 and MA176.

I will be checking my engine number tonight, thanks for the info! My car was built October or November 2015 and delivered late December.

Are you guys saying that some F cars have updated components over other F cars? If that is the case how do i check to see if mine is before or after the updated components.

It seems like it has been a case of continuous improvement, with G being the latest state of improvement. When replacement engines are delivered they may be further developed than the F or production G versions. I think that the highest state of development includes the coated cam lobes. So I am hoping to establish that my car has that.

Our PC does not even want to talk about any of this. But then we are banned from the racetrack on pain of cancellation of Motorplan in our country.

How/where is the engine number to verify which one you have. I have a G produced in car 11/15.

Mine is an F (MJ2015), produced in April 2015 and has the newer heads. From MJ2016/G the motor has an updated oil pump but thats not so important. The new dlc coated cams are used since mid 2016 from what we know.

The letters E/F/G/H refers only to the model year. The changes in the cylinder heads are not bound to model year but were done on the fly in spring 2015 and summer 2016.

You can find the motor number on the engine hood, on the sticker where you can also find the vin. (Sorry, I'm not a native english speaker ).

Okay so I checked my engine number and it is 1000 something. But before the number is the "G0" prefix. My car was built late 2015 so I suspect that the engine numbers revert to 1 per model year. Could this be?

So can you check that number 05373 to see if it is an "F"?

I would be really interested to know what your engine number is. Mine is the G model year, was built late in 2015 (like October or early November) and my number is just above 1000

Are you sure? Maybe you got the vin, not the motor number?
The motor numbers are sequential from E0000xxx1 to G05xxxx. They don't begin to count from zero every model year (otherwise there were more than 10.000 motors alive today 8-))).

(DLC cams since G05373. Your motor has the same head than mine, because its greater than F03048 (from Feb/Mar 2015) but below G05373 (from mid 2016))
