I have a 3 car garage and took out two lally columns, bought a shed to put all of our crap in and refinished everything...compounded all drywall, 31 recessed lights, floor. Still waiting for cabinet system from New Age. Rain hot & cold water and drain, along with hot and cold spigots for winter car washing. I can now fit 4 cars wide. Not nearly as fancy as some of the garages here.

How did you take out the lalley columns without compromising structural integrity? I have four in my garage and it would make a huge difference not having them.
To remove the columns you would need an appropriately size structural beam. Wood or steel to transfer the load to the side walls of the garage. Depending on the side wall structure they may need to be reinforced.

Looks great to me.
What are the dimensions? I'm limited to 1,200 sq ft (zoning restriction) so I'm trying to visualize what I can accomplish with that.
@RudyP -- just checking in here for the first time in a while. Congrats on the MASSIVE increase in vehicle capacity! We'll miss you here on the peninsula.

Thanks Kelly - it's going to be a project for a while but the potential is there. I bet it would even fit a half track... And I have 9 acres to drive around on. Hmmm.....

I just cut them out with a Sawzall and hoped for the best.
A friend of mine used a contractor that specializes in lally column removal. https://lallygone.com/ I used them too, they were in and out in one day and it cost $10K, which I thought was reasonable. I was super nervous about it because it is a 38ft span, but after watching them install and seeing the size of the steel they sandwiched the existing LVL wood beam, reinforced support in the walls, I was not concerned (/ still hoping for the best). Here are some pictures of the process:

This would be a great garage conversion project for Matt Moreman/Obsessed Garage and his team Mike/Mike.
@RudyP With ample tree cover, your spread looks ideal for a military reenactment! I'll round up a few HTs from the NorCal military gang. BTW, how many semi's will it take to transport your fleet across the country???

At a minimum I am getting a bunch of things from him anyway (lighting and pressure washer station thing).
This is my third time overhauling a garage/set of garages so I'm getting pretty good at it but the scale keeps getting a bit bigger every time.
This was the last one (our current house which will be for sale soon if anyone is looking - oh and I added a lift in one of the garages since the video).

One I am going to sell, one I am going to drive across the country (wife's Cayenne) because we need to pack a bunch of stuff movers won't take (wine/liquids/guns, etc...) as well as real important stuff that is too bulky for flying and stuff we need immediately. The other 6, I was able to book an entire Intercity Lines enclosed shipper that can fit them all and I don't have to worry about them adding/dropping off other cars. It's pricey but I have the whole thing from point A to B.
Glad the logistics worked out. I doubted you would transport open air. Also, I'd delete that part about transporting guns across state lines. ;-) On a related note, when LinkedIn notifies me of who's searching my profile, one of the companies was Department of Homeland Security. Just might have something to do with the half track!

It's actually totally legit. And the ammo went a separate way (on a previous flight I took on Thanksgiving in our plane)
