I just cut them out with a Sawzall and hoped for the best.
A friend of mine used a contractor that specializes in lally column removal. https://lallygone.com/ I used them too, they were in and out in one day and it cost $10K, which I thought was reasonable. I was super nervous about it because it is a 38ft span, but after watching them install and seeing the size of the steel they sandwiched the existing LVL wood beam, reinforced support in the walls, I was not concerned (/ still hoping for the best). Here are some pictures of the process:
Quick question: Do you know if those steel beams were through-bolted or lag screws?
Although this company is too far away, it seems like a straightforward process to engineer and install.
Thanks!
Guys, please get a qualified structural engineer involved when doing structural mods to your garage. Contractors are not engineers, and using their rules of thumb for things like beam sizes is not the way to go when doing significant mods to a significant structure like a garage.

through-bolted.
They had an engineer take measurement and get the permit as part of the process.
Definitely not complete. Everything is painfully slow, but I'm planning to be here for at least 30 more years, so too OCD to compromise.
Nothing to show on exterior. Finally found a fabricator for the garage door and transom, but probably 4-6 weeks from install, which is holding up brickwork.
Interior of garage close getting there, but I won't finish it out until custom lift system arrives in 3-4 months.
Pool house interior almost done except cabinetry. Will have a nice glass wall to enjoy the view!
Wife got her terrazzo floors throughout. Only part of the whole project she cared about.
Exterior almost complete and commercial lift system getting installed today. Merry Christmas everyone!
Posts are embedded in the walls, and platforms will be suspended from two 24' steel beams spanning the full space.
