Now that it is clear these interior pics are not recent, I once again have high hopes for this thing.

The new model is likely to pay tribute to the original 911 R, which celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2017. It's expected that the 911 R will be a permanent addition to the 911 family, rather than being a limited-run special edition.
Don't know how credible Autocar's info is but if the above statement is true, we mortals might have a shot at getting one.

All press offices around the world will be receiving the preliminary information on this car in the next 7 days under embargo. You will not learn anything useful from them till the car breaks cover. There is a global "soft launch for this car on 28 to stakeholders and ViP clients. In one week we will know all we need on this car. 911 lucky owners will get one but I doubt we will see it on the track or on the wild much....
