Have to congratulate Dodge for creating a masterpiece. I would've expected to hear that the viper would be handling like the corvette. If I remember correctly that is what they used to be like?

Just a thinking out load here: The current 991 GT3 3.8L motor in it's E and F series form seems to have an oiling issue. Supposedly fixed for the 2016 GT3, as noted with the G series motor and different oil filter. I am curious if the 911R, with it's detuned 9A1 GT3 motor will have the G series engine? Would Porsche dare use up the supply of older engines, safely, by detuning it, and not expecting anyone to be driving their collectable car on the track in abusive situations? In this guise, the engine would probably never see failures. I will be curious to see the old filter part.

If I read the article correctly, it will use the same engine as that of the current 991 GT3RS. If so this will be a BLAST!
Drive safe,

Somehow I'm a little deflated about this car. A part of me thinks, this is great, a back to basics bare bones modern Porsche "Hot-Rodding" with GT flair. I think this engine should be experienced with a manual transmission, and perhaps even they should have offered it as an option on the GT3 from the get go. The other part of me thinks -- 600 (or what ever limited number it will be), really people!!! You are telling me, that only 600 people or so will only experience this car in what, a garage! Give me a break! Such a shame for something that could be so cool, be shoved a away, driven by a very few, if that, just so it can be a collectors car. What a waste of tallent and engineering. Rant off.

I want every Kool-Aid drinker on this forum that has said " the GT3/RS engine spins too fast for a manual " to come out and admit they were wrong at the launch of the 991R.
