I'd say a pretty big mess, actually. Enough of the folks who flipped their 918's held them for 6 months... this means they have 3 years of VIP'ness (from their delivery date).

You'll have 90 or so VIP's left in the dust, and I assure you all will raise their hands for this free / guaranteed allocation (unlike what happened with the GT4 initially, where only ~80% raised their hand).

This will be a problem because the VIP program assured folks that you'll get an allocation for any limited edition model. Period. No exceptions. I have the paperwork that states this.

OK everybody, please stop with this nonsense. there isn't going to be a mess. there is a provision for that in the VIP program:

In the event that the number of Porsche 918 VIP customers wishing to order such a limited-edition model exceeds the total number of such cars allocated to the United States, production numbers will be allocated to Porsche 918 VIP customers in sequential order of the time the customer placed their order for the 918 Spyder.

it all comes down to when you bought your 918: if you were the first guy with a deposit or the last guy in-line.

Ah, yes! Ugh. I completely forgot about that provision. Thank you for that.

We'll still have 918 VIP's who complain, and get upset.

Anyway, it'll be interesting.

Knowing what I know about humans reading fine print, you'll still have enough folks (who spent $900k - $1m on their 918 Spyder) upset because they missed out on an alloc that their other 918 Spyder brethren are getting.

That's true, people that are spending that kind of money are used to getting what they want (take my avatar and multiple by 10x) because they have the means of paying for whatever they want. I'm sure PCNA will get some blow back from the VIPs that were left out in the cold despite the small print disclaimer above.

Heck yeh!! - there will be some upset people - but - those that can afford it will pay the premium and buy it from one of the other 918 guys flipping the car although I think this car will certainly be a "collector".

I seriously don't think Stuttgart would be that stupid, to **** off the VIP owners would be extremely dumb. Just send 300 R to the US. Price is irrelevant! Make it even. Let's say $300k.

PAG will make sure they take care of their VIP's, they will need them. Don't forget, there will certainly be another future 918.

Yeah, I can see PCNA on their hands and knees to PAG begging to get 297 991Rs for each of their VIP customers.

Maybe its me, but it's a bit annoying for me to think I have no chance at a limited edition car that wont be insane money because all the people who do have insane money get to eat them up.

So I'm too poor to buy a Porsche because I'm more poor than the rich people who bought a Porsche

Teir 2 Poor Status.... great

There has been a step change in PAG/PCNA flexibility in recent months, things that I've been told no to in the past they're now doing. Porsche Exclusive even sent me a holiday gift (just a calendar, but add that to the GT3 RS bag) this year - seems like they're doing more to keep customers happy now.

I hope/suspect this will mean more 911R.
