Are you suggesting the run out RS will be (in place of) the .2 RS, or in addition to it (like the 997 4.0)?

Most of the fun to stick with the P car brand over Ferrari for me has been the lack of all these games till recently.
I am surprised (and not) that we (grown successful men) are still complaining about the 918 program. Porsche made the program to sell cars and it worked, they sold 918 million dollars cars and sell out of all their limited production cars to those loyal 918 customers and there are usually some left over for non 918 owners. The program was a success and unfortunately it was so good that everyone on here is complaining about it. At the end of the day porsche is just trying to make the most money it can and not repeat marketing/production mistakes like they did with the CGT. I think we all remeber that Mclaren cut the number of P1's to 375 because they didn't think they could sell more than that.

^ No doubt the 918 program was a success because at couple of points during Production they were ****ting in their pants and were embarrassed that they could not sell what they anticipated. Yes - it worked but it came at a price. I commend those that stepped up and bought in to it because they hit a small lottery for what their 918 is worth now plus all the first right of refusal on future models. i think what most are complaining about is not against the 918 Owners but the fall out from what Porsche did. And, in private - there are many at Porsche and their Dealers that think this ended up all screwed up.

Do you know that during the 2014 recall on the ~785 cars that they were very close to giving all of us Owners (1) first shot(only once) on any future model during our lifetime. Can you imagine if that would of happened?

We would have never heard the end of it! I remember placing my 918 order and getting myself ready for the depreciation that was going to hit me after delivery, I was mentally prepared.

I would never be ready to risk the life
for the too many 918 recall affecting
the car stability and driver control

991R is certain a low compensation for that

Love the earlier suggestions of round rear tail lights.

That's the car I'm waiting for.😉 You probably have better info and connections than I do. Still haven't heard anything.
I turned down the offer to buy the R. Not my type of car and I hope my straight approach to the dealership gives me the special one. Would feel wrong to buy 1 out of 12 911R rumored to hit Swedish shores. When someone else would enjoy it a lot more than I would.

On last 02th and 09th July, two different threads were opened into the two main Italian Porsche Forums. The discussions were and are focused on the arrival of the Special Version (Road Cup version and not to be confused with the R version) of the RS. Now after reading you , I am sure that the insider was quite right
250.000 euro, big brakes and something related to the gear were the main rumors...Something really special and limited of course. We will see..

Thanks doom. Porsche knows how to make stuff people want. It sounds like there will be MUCH want when this hits.

I've never been so excited about a car that I know so little about. But, if they decide to make the "cup version" I sure hope to get one. Think it has the potential to be even more pure than the 4.0.

If it will be so special isn't there the potential for the 918 owners to snap the whole production run?

You are probably right. I have no chance of getting one in the US. My relationship is with Porsche in Europe. Luckily no 918 VIP class in ROW.

fresh of the press from Aldo in Germany (Rennteam Moderator). His inf is usually spot on:

I have got the following information:

price 195.000 € (incl. VAT) in Germany

GT3 engine not RS engine

Manual

special interior color

PAG must be confident in the MA175/6 mill if they are including it in this limited edition package.

Just as reference the GT3RS is IIRC 180K Euro inc Tax in Germany.

So the 911R is only 10% more.

Assume GT3 body with no wing and engine undercarriage venturi and a slightly smaller front splitter.

I think the suggestion is around 40Kg weight reduction. 1390kg. Interior will point to 1.2 gen GT3/RS and have some interesting touches including deviating seat insert and door panel material.

No news on RWS (runs from PDK hydraulics so if present means some additional weight in a pump and ancillaries). If it is missing then assume a further 15kg weight reduction.

Assumption is this is a LE model.

Nice they kept the 3.8 mill with 9000 rpm rev line. Would be fun trying to match the down shifts on the track but

A) I suspect few of these will ever venture near a track and
B) It will have the rev matching function like the GT4 for sure...

Price wise I think its where it should be. The GT3 was to cheap IMO and makes the 911R look expensive but the positioning just above the RS means it will tear the heart strings of the MT die harders and collectors....
