Thanks for that back story footsoldier. I'm glad you went with arrow! That's interesting that the factory advice was to consider this alternative. There's a lot to read between the lines from their response consistent with some of what Eduardo has posted previously. I love voodoo but wish it had porsche history. Hopefully arrow can be approved on the pts list for other cars. Perhaps you'll be the one to do that and order another car to match!! Btw do you have any photos of those blue sample model cars? Or a contact at the factory for how to inquire about them? Thanks so much for your very informative and fascinating post!!
@Whoopsy--at least the Nordegrens had the good sense to have twins!!

There are a couple of threads on here (mostly with content from Eduardo) that show off a few blues side-by-side, but yes, I'd love to see them all lined up together. Mexico, Gulf, Maritime, Voodoo, Arrow, Club, Miami, Sapphire, Aqua, Riviera, Bahama, Acid, etc.

What makes you think you are a bigger Porsche lover than the 918 owners?
The average 918 owner has 8+ cars currently, several of them Porsches. Quite a number of owners have collections numbering above 50 . From historic to modern. each also have at least 2 Porsches on order, not counting the R. Who is the better Porsche lover in your book? Leasing 10+ cars in a row is not the same as keeping 10+ cars concurrently. Life is not fair, it never was and never will.
What makes you think you will have a shot at a 911R even if they produced an extra 991 cars? Look at the market adjustment tacked onto the GT3RS right now, do you want to pay that premium? AND that car is not even a limited production model.
Getting a R is not impossible, quite a few already did without buying a 918. If you want to complaint, how about to your own dealer who doesn't value you as an excellent customer and gave their allocation to someone else who they think are more worthy.
Admit it, you just want one simply because of the re-sale potential. If on the other hand you want a excellent Motorsports driver's car in manual transmission, put your name down for the .2 GT3 with manual transmission, that's a much better car than the 911R, and you will have a much much higher chance of actually getting one.
Everyone wants a date with Kate Beckinsale too, do they complaint about Kate's mom not producing more Kate?

They will always be different cars, but if you must have it, all it will cost is some $$$$.
I wish people would stop complaining.

Thanks for telling me Whoopsy why I want an R.. Love it when someone tells me
why I want a car. Put an R in the 2017 lineup and I would be calling to order one today. Do not care to sell it as you said. Dealers in my part of the state are not large and do not get the allocations that others get.

And there you go. That's the proper cause of the problem.
You lived in the USA, where dealers can sell to out of state, so you are not limited to that one dealer. You have the whole country's dealers to call and try to source a car.
Not saying if you call around will actually get you a car, but if you don't put in the initial effort and call, you will never have a car. Sitting in front of the computer and whine about it will also not get you a car. There is no free lunch in this world, everything has to be earned.
Even the 918 owners also put in their efforts. Money doesn't grow on trees, they are earned, and all the owners earned enough to be able to afford a million dollar car, it's not a free lunch for them either.
