Awesome pic. If this were a little bit more in focus, it'd be my new desktop wallpaper.

With all due respect to the LaF and P1, The 918 is the prettiest of the Trinity for me. Wow.

So interesting takeaways is the way Andreas talks about why this car has a manual suggests future GT3 or GT3RS won't

And note the limited edition badge. Out of 911.

I agree that arrow is just perfect. Footsoldier, can you please give us your thoughts on how arrow compares to bahama/acid blue (I've seen it described as slightly "darker with more gray" than bahama), clubblau, voodoo blue, or any other similar Porsche medium blues you've seen in person? Can you also tell us how you arrived at selecting arrow blue? It's not a blue I know much about, and I wonder if you have an interesting story about it or some history with other cars in this colour. Thanks so much for the photos!!!

They will also be filming for the Tour de France Automobile stage in southern France and I think there will be an additional clip made from that.

Elvan and I weren't shot for the first lesson. I was sitting on a mechanic's stool while they tried to get their takes in between bursts of noise from the Porsche Motorsports work going on in the background.

I had mentioned in a Rennlist post that I was headed for Weissach, so the car had to be kept camouflaged whenever it was out of that garage -- even rolling it to the test track or the skid pad. The problem (I learned) is that automotive journalists read these posts and then set themselves up in the hills around Weissach with telephoto lenses to get shots of the cars before they're released officially.
What a neat experience! I hope you can provide us with a little extra commentary about each of the videos when they come out. I really enjoyed reading your take on how it all went down! Thanks!! And I hope they let you take an R home with you!

CJ here doesn't have a 918, yet he's got a 911R coming, so it's not impossible, one just need to prove to their dealer who does allocations that they are a worthy client.

The old GT2RS, GT3RS4.0 had even lower production numbers, where was the complaints back then? You are just blaming the 918 owners for no valid reasons.

Look at things this way, one 'other' customer got a 911R, one 'elite' customer also has one, which customer you think will worry about future 'resale' value and perhaps limits their driving time on such a limited car? The elite one couldn't care less, they will drive the car however he likes, while the normal one will think more about the potential windfall they can have by re-selling such a car in pristine condition.

You might say you are different and do drive and enjoy the R, but at the end of the day, would you be tempted to sell the car say for 500k or something when you initially paid MSRP and can realize a huge profit?
I didn't say that and I don't think that. For me, it's not a question of 'deserving' or 'fairness'. Porsche is a business and they can sell or not sell cars to whoever they want. If they want to give some customers preference over others on access to some cars, that's up to them. The cars aren't gifts, and no one has a 'right' to be able to buy one.

My point was that Porsche needs to live with the consequences of their business decisions. This thread illustrates that quite a few loyal customers are irritated with the VIP process, but maybe the net effect is favorable for Porsche. I really don't know.

I myself have no personal gripe in this. I've been able to buy the Porsches I wanted, and have no interest in buying the R.

No luck here either. The rumour is 18 cars to be allocated to Canada and with about 24 918 original owners having the ROFR, the math just doesn't work

The only thing left to do at this point is to pray for a miracle.

^ Nice to see you around Conekilr! Long time no see!

Yes, I also understand that the number of R for Canada is less than VIP status 918 owners. 918 owners will be given approval based on those who purchased first. Clearly there are other markets like Canada where not even all 918 owners will be able to buy one. UK for example, as we've seen above.

Hi Daniel, Yes I'm still around just haven't been on RL alot but the 911R bought me out of the wood work. It's the only other 911 I would consider but it's not looking too good for securing one.

I'm #1 at my dealer for an allocation, but am less than hopeful it will come through. Should know next week.
