There will be some additional .1RS cars trickling out (maybe 100-200 additional allocations). And there will be NA .2GT cars as well as turbo GT2.

Eduardo, thanks so much for that synopsis. I was hoping someone would post info on AP's talk as I had to leave early today.

As for break-in, the modified procedure that AP suggested is exactly what many of us have done. But then what would AP know about breaking in GT car engines....?

Did anyone at the presentation ask AP whether he thought fallout from the VW fiasco would have any impact on Porsche in general and GT car development and racing in particular?

What a great event. BTW, Eduardo, you may appreciate this. I noticed this line up in the corral today both shots taken from the same spot but looking in different directions. Some like their GT3's in vanilla, others tutti frutti. Tutti frutti was definitely in the minority but funny how we ended up in the same spot!

Good info - thanks for posting. Good news on the increased GT4 production - I know a handful of people that are eager to get their hands on one.

What about the 991 GT2RS? Or that's the GT2 he stated… So I don't think the 991.2 GT3RS 4.2 will happen huh? Or the 991.2 GT3 4.0

bummer that there won't be much in the way of power increases for 991.2 GT3/RS, mainly cosmetic changes. I may not stay on my dealer's list for the 991.2 GT3.

Given how powerful their competitors engines have become, I was hoping for a 4.0L 991.2 GT3.

thank u for posting eduardo
wish i could have been to rsr v - but i committed to be a t hill this weekend

a.p. is a rare breed, highly competent, highly articulate, AND highly likeable... i have spent a career around higher up management/technical types, and i can say from experience this combination of attributes is rare and invaluable

he no doubt has one of the great jobs in the world but pag (and we as porsche lovers) should also be happy to have him at the helm of that key arm of pag

I'm assuming nobody asked him about what he thought about US dealers asking up to $150k over MSRP for the 991 GT3RS...

IIRC he suggested none beyond planned forecast ie no increase in total global numbers (my interpretation) as vendors and parts are bottleneck. I suppose if they had already planned to dole out a few more as yet unassigned allocations from the start these would go ahead. But my recollection is that PAG planned around 2000 worldwide. And I suspect that that's it.

AP said of current strong demand that they would love to build more cars, but they temper that with production realities and wishing to keep the GT cars somewhat more exclusive (ie. not 10000 cars built). So I doubt we'll see them flooding the market with a ton of unexpected allocations. The last thing he wants to see, he said, is unsold GT cars sitting at dealerships.

Other bits I recall. He seems to recommend oil change at 1000-1500 km as part of break in. GT engines different from "normal" 911. With thinner Motorsport valve rings (?) and other components that really need proper break in. Discouraged 9k off the lot!

He also feels current gearing on gt4 is best compromise (despite criticism gearing too long) to render acceptable emissions, autobahn high speed usage, etc.

I also asked him to sign my manual a couple days ago. Plus his Motorsport boss and vp (Walliser) and vp customer centre (Frenkel) and about 30 past and present drivers (many of whom gave really great interviews) did the same! How cool is that of them to do!! Super awesome people, all of them!! Overall I'm super impressed by the generosity and time offered by these ladies and gentlemen. Apart from very interesting discussions we even got a few cool gifts like pens and notebooks, booklets, and a North American exclusive cars board / plate from Barbara Boeckenhoff, Florian Truffner, and the porsche tent staff. Big thank you to them!

And of course it was so cool to meet many interesting people involved in making these cars. Big thanks to Eduardo for letting me in on some interesting conversations with Frenkel and designer Thorsten Klein and others. So many great opportunities to meet and hear from the real inner circle involved in creating the cars we love! Thank you RRV for an amazing few days!! PAG you guys rock!!

Extended production?

Sorry to make those of you who are excited. "Extending" production to Spring 2016 is nothing new. My allocation was given to me in April this year for Q2 2016 production. And I was one of the last ones in my area to get an allocation. So unless PAG is going to continue to make these things well into second half of 2016? I don't see how there is an extension there ...

Ok. I guess Eduardo kinda let the cat out of the bag here. I spoke with Andy for over 30 minutes behind the Porsche hospitality tent. He told me the exact same things.
1.No manual in the RS ever-this will ALWAYS be PDK.
2.GT3 manual will show up in .2 991 GT3 but not RS ever, ever, ever.
3.They are working on a GT2 which will be a GT2RS almost.
4.PDK will be out sooner than later in GT4 and there won't be an RS but some of the Cup parts may fit.
5..2 GT3/RS have little room to grow performance wise since they will absolutely be NA.

Great info, guys! Thanks for taking the time to report to the rest of us. I am down the list at my dealer, but this gives me hope that next year I will likely get an allocation. Good way to start the week.

Thanks for the info! So is it a GT2 only? There will still be a GT2RS at 2018 right? Or only one version for the GT2?
