Is there a good video or other explanation someone can please point me to that explains how to take the bottom/seat portion insert out of the LWBS? I have seen Garry's videos which are super helpful in terms of how to replace the covers and also put the inserts back in. I tried taking out the back insert and that was very very easy - just velcro. The bottom, though, especially at the front of the seat seems tricky to me and I don't want to risk ruining anything. Thanks!
The front part of the base can be tricky to remove agreed, this is a stitched in rubber u reinforced channel which is secured to a lip under the front of the base. Two hands pulling & wiggling the U channel downwards should allow it to come un-clipped, you will need to be firm an I can assure you you wont damage the original (I stitch these on all the time and they are almost indestructible). Once released this allow the base cover to be pulled upwards and then its velcro again everywhere.

... in addition to what Garry stated, on the driver side lower cushion there is a harness pass through with additional Velcro attachments you may want to have duplicated, if that is important to you. The passenger lower cushion has, in addition, two tiny plastic hooks which clip onto rigid wires that are fit on the underside of the foam insert. I believe they are there to hold the seat cushion down more firmly for the airbag sensor. As you pull up the Velcro, you will be able to slide your fingers underneath to feel for them, and unclip the tiny hooks. They will break off if you just yank the Velcro apart (I found out!). Once you have removed the inserts the first time, the process becomes very easy.
Here's a couple of pictures of the colour used in the R centers as I've had a few questions asking this. I took these pictures in May during a visit to the museum in Stuttgart.
You can see the colour is slightly brown (as there's two different colours) to match the brown leather of the seat. The colour combo above will fit nicely with most colour combo interiors with LWB's as its a neutral make up if that makes sense.
But you can see the material, pattern, texture of the 50 / 50 is identical to the R just slightly different in colour although it's hard to see
Garry, is the color of your 50/50 material the Agate/Geysir grey combo or the Black/Dark Silver combo? See link below for more info, post 8, 25 and 27:
