Reference Guide to PTS

Aaron is right about 'Riviera' being lighter than 'Mexico'.
'Mexico' to the left of 'Riviera' on the 'Wailing Wall'!
It's hard to tell from that photo what is the exact
color of this RS.

yours. Congratulations on such an early PTS RS!

Eduardo, Need your advice. After seeing the post about PTS availability
I called up my sales manager and he was able to change the color to
PTS Miami blue BUT it took me back to V100 showing feasibility check.
Whats your recommendation regarding Miami blue vs UV if the orders
goes through? We will be calling Porsche tomorrow to see what caused
the feasibility check. It's either the Paint or the black spoiler riser which
is CXX option. Blue or UV? He says they will call us and let us decide.

dealer. The computer is probably wrong & it will correct itself shortly.
Unless it's a major reversal in policy, PAG does not allow anyone with
a standard color allocation for the RS (meaning 'White', 'Lava Orange',
'GT Silver' or 'Ultraviolet') to switch to one of the three 'Special Colors',
which are 'Miami Blue', 'Racing Yellow' & 'Black'. Those have up to now
been only available to those with true PTS allocations in case they want
to move up their build dates...as true PTS seems to be pushed back to
the end of regular .1 gt3 RS production.
Frankly, Silverrules, I was surprised they allowed you to select 'Ultraviolet'
in the first place since you got a late allocation which was handed out just
weeks ago. And we were told that past November 2015 RS production
'Ultraviolet' would no longer be available. So the fact that you & others
that got the ordering computers to let them choose 'Ultraviolet' recently
came as a total shock to me. But it wouldn't surprise me if they tell you
one of these days that 'Ultraviolet' is no longer available for your built &
push you into another color. But if they let you pick 'Miami Blue', consider
yourself fortunate. It seems, however, that they are not pushing you...it's
you that want to go there on your own accord! And that might not be such
a wise decision.
I am a big believer in 'Ultraviolet'. Down the road, there will be a few
more 'Ultraviolet' .1 gt3 RS's than 'Miami Blue'. But because 'Miami Blue'
is available in any future .2 991 model as a rather inexpensive 'Special
Color' for only $3140, this hue will be far more common in Porsches. Yet
'Ultraviolet', for the moment, remains relative rare as the least built regular
RS color. It is not available as PTS or 'Special Color' to anyone or any other
model...and perhaps it never will. So the chances are that it will be one of
the rarest colors in RS history! It for sure will be one of the most interesting
& valuable colors to collectors & enthusiasts in the long run!
So my money bet is on 'Ultraviolet'. I would not switch out of it...if you have
a choice on the matter. So give it some thought. But good luck with your
decision, regardless.
Saludos,
Eduardo

I think UV likely was originally to be suspended in Nov most likely because how few were ordered compared to the other colors. However, with the lovely "PTS" window not lining up with when all allocations are released and probably a more than expected number of people disliking LO either through preference or its over saturated numbers, more people began gravitating to UV which forced PAG to throw its original discontinuation plan out the window.

My PTS (253 licht gruen) RS w/acid green deviated stitching, has finally gone V215. The delivery date was determined on 24 November, 2015.
The schedule shows entry to body shop on 18 March, 2016 and vehicle completion and entry to Port of Emden on 8 April, 2016. Somehow, it takes until 22 April for the boat to cast off for the Colonies.
Scheduled into Port of Davisville on 6 May with estimated delivery at my dealer on 20 May, 2016.
It seems that I can still make changes until the "expected change freeze point" 17 February, 2016. But, permissible changes do not include change of color AFAIK, since the color was determined long ago and the supplies are already locked.
For those wondering about how I managed to obtain PTS at all, it helped being in the 918 allocation queue, but I don't think it was necessary. Anyone with a confirmed allocation apart from the 918 VIP program could have done the same.
As soon as the order was placed (8 May, 2015), I immediately asked my dealer to press for PTS in Birch Green (253), even though PTS was not officially on offer. From my experience with previous Carrera GT PTS requests (extremely long story), I speculated that PCNA would eventually negotiate with PAG to make PTS available for PCNA GT3 RS orders. Not 100% certainty, but more than likely. The original build sheet spec'd Lava Orange with a request for Birch Green attached.
On 14 May, 2015, a note was received from Melissa that the order had been added to the PTS wait list with an advisory that non-metallic Black was the only color then tested and available. Other colors had to wait for approval.
On 28 May, 2015, a build sheet was printed that had "Exterior Paint to Sample" listed under options, but no color specified. The configurator, however, showed 253.
I received a notification on 9 July that any PTS order confirmed before 6 July, 2015 was good to go, but others after that date would be restricted to Black, Racing Yellow and Miami Blue.
In mid-September, I received a V200 "Delivery Date Determined" with a blank delivery estimate The dealer explained that the order was good, but it had "gone off the grid", so to speak. Two months later I have more specific news.

Congratulations! That's a great build (the "preview" of the Museum car is stunning)! Looking forward to seeing photos when it arrives.
Thanks for sharing a bit about the timeline of how your got your PTS. I wonder how it compares to others who also got PTS but were not in the VIP program. (And how it compares to others who were denied PTS, for that matter.) It would be interesting to see if the dates line up very similarly. I wonder how much being a 918 customer improved your chances of getting PTS, vs if it's just a matter of luck with timing when the window opened, vs being on the ball to request PTS as early as possible. Can you let us know when you first requested an RS? Was that May 8 2015, or did you have a request in earlier?

May 8, 2015 was the first entry into the system. Immediately pressing the issue of PTS ahead of time, and continuing to follow up with PCNA, was the only special effort involved.

The fact is that we don't know why PAG originally contemplated
discontinuing 'Ultraviolet'. Nor do we know the reason they
changed their minds...if indeed they are continuing with
'Ultraviolet' into calendar 2016 production as some have
reported.

Good luck with the UV!!
This whole paint issue, not including the PTS, seems to be like one of these Fantasy Football games were people sit on the edge of their seats each week crossing fingers and offering up prayers to see if their luck's in!!

100% agree. The 1st thing I asked my dealer was I wanted a PTS and he said absolutely. This was before he had any allocation. The process of having dealer coordinating with PCNA to record your request for PTS is broken. I asked several times about PTS and respond was, dude I don't even have a allocation yet. When he received his allocation the PTS was closed. What up Porsche?

Porsche did not expect so many people from US would go the PTS route. We probably surprised the hell out of them. USA, USA It makes it very difficult for them to manage if every car was a PTS and the reason they force us to just take whatever they give us meantime they throw few bones out there for the lucky ones. There is no system that I can see they are using.

My UV is so precious to me. It sits between my black 4.0 and Green '07 RS. It is the perfect shade of purple and discontinued for now at least.
