I just made some last minute changes to a PTS car and asked why it's still V170 and being built so late. The answer from the GM after speaking with PCNA (I have a name but won't write it here) is that the response for RS PTS was overwhelming and it's taking a long time to get thru them, hence the three alternate colors. Nothing new, so we just need to hang in there.
However, he also said RS PTS cars took a large share of all the available PTS slots going into 2016. Apparently 2016 will be hard year to get a PTS car in some models because of this.

Thanks. Very interesting. That is the first official word that I've heard saying pts allocations are not divvied up by model, but are instead a first-come-first-served pool across multiple models.
It maybe across certain lines but not others, who knows. The dealer was asking specifically about 911 and GT4 PTS for 2016. The inner workings of PTS at the factory level would be a great video, I'd watch it before Star Wars: TFA.

Ya I'd love for someone to explain it. Hopefully Eduardo will be given permission to visit and can learn more.
Anyone: Is there any knowledge about numbers on the RS? I just had the chance to change my build (which is due May for June delivery) from UV to MB. I accepted, mainly because MB is the rarer color, I really like both. But I have to say, it would be nice to know how many PTS they have allowed, how many of them are Miami etc. The UV is only for RS, that counts for something. And to be honest... Quite insecure if I made the right choice to let my UV go...

When did you get your allocation and did they confirm Miami Blue for you? Almost certainly will be more rare than UV **on the RS**, but will a more common color in general. Go with what you like the most.

I got my allocation in October, they called me yesterday because there was an opening for two cars to go RY or MB. They confirmed today. That is, yesterday local time..
My dealer is very certain the Miami will be very rare and highly recommended changing from the UV, even if we agree UV is a really great color for the car.
Do you think the fact that there will be other models with the MB, will make it "less" on the RS? And how many RS' are they going to make? I want make car to be as special as possible and I miss my Purple dream
MB the rarer bird - my brother finds out tomorrow for his order, he seems to be also allowed to go MB too.
The MB pops more than the UV - that would be my choice
Originally had Mexico blue, have always liked the colour.
Understand. You are still in a beautiful blue tone. Enjoy it in good health.

Hard year indeed! For example, not one of the MY2016 gt3s has been
approved for PTS to my knowledge. There are not that many '16 gt3
allocations in the first place, but regardless, not one is going to be done
in PTS.

I am working very hard on 'Porsche Exclusive' to make the proper
introductions with the PTS managers in Germany to allow me to
interview them & report back to all of you. I will pay the expenses
for the trip. All they have to do is agree to talk to me when its
convenient to them. Hopefully, they'll let me do it this Spring (2016).

a) I find it odd that they are allowing anyone not initially with a PTS allocation
to switch to one of the 'Special Colors' - 'Miami Blue', 'Racing Yellow' or 'Black'.
b) I also found it odd that any of the late '16 gt3 RS allocations handed out in
October (or similar late date) were allowed to be ordered in 'Ultraviolet' since
we were originally told that standard color would not be produced after Nov
2015.
c) As for switching to 'Miami Blue' from 'Ultraviolet', I still put my money on
'Ultraviolet' for long term collector value. But that is just my own personal
opinion. You can't go wrong with either - they are both strikingly beautiful
solid hues! On its own, I think 'Miami Blue' will be well received by the
Porsche public and will be available for the rest of the .2 991 for at least
three model years. But that is also the downside from a collector's point
of view - the fact that it's available to anyone as a $3140 'Special Color'
on the .2 991 does detract from its 'rare' status. 'Ultraviolet', on the other
hand, has many advantages. It's pretty rare among the RS's, it will not be
available as either 'Special Color' or 'PTS' in any other Porsche model, and
it's a no cost option as a standard offering paint. In the RS, 'Miami Blue' is
not $3140 like on the 991...they hit you with a full PTS $5500 charge for it!
Because of the above analysis, I would place my bet on 'Ultraviolet' as one
of the colors (including true PTS) in the .1 991 gt3 RS that will be most
valuable to collectors in the long run. And 'UV' would be the one I would
choose if I couldn't get a unique PTS color on a .1 991 gt3 RS (for example,
'Chartreuse', 'Birch Green' or 'Gelbgrün').
If the number of car is indeed that large then this RS PTS Spring harvest might be the most colorful, varied and deep group of PTS cars within a model of any modern Porsche. From the cost/PTS survey about 30% of respondents checked PTS, Rennlist multiplier in effect no doubt.
