The vin numbers should be posted as a sticky somewhere to protect RL members down the road.

Looks like 14/20 or 70% of this sample size were white in color.

That's a lot of white GT3s. I knew the color was popular but, man.

I for one may buy a used 2015 in a few years but I most certainly NOT buy one of these auction cars. No sir!
Again, the branded title thing is being blown out of proportion. The engine swap is an extremely well documented situation and fully explains the brand...end of story. The guy who buys one of these cars in a few years will see it loud and clear on the CarFax, AutoCheck, etc. and he will know exactly why it exists. At some point everyone is going to forget the engine swap and 2014 GT3s, even those with branded titles, will be remembered only as amazing performance vehicles. Remember, no one knows the market better than the dealers (not even Porsche) and the fact that dealers paid almost MSRP for these cars tells us that the branding is not an issue.

Seriously? Every Porsche dealer in the country is able to buys these cars. Dealers are extremely well capitalized. In addition they all have wholesale financing, which allows them to finance their inventory. Yes, even dealers finance their cars!

Anyone know what the cars brought at auction vis-à-vis their MSRP? I've been told a majority of the cars were picked up by California & Florida area dealers, at or close to original MSRPs.
Maybe even in a few cases at above, if only slightly, MSRP.

Cheers

When I first found out about this late last week I was excited. The thought of getting one for around $60-80k made for a long weekend. To get a GT3 with a new motor & one extra year of warranty at or below wholesale I didn't really care what color it was. My dealer told me upfront the title would indicate something about the motor replacement & traditional financing might be a problem. This would need to be a cash sale. I authorized them a amount I could spend and if it got close to call me. Needless to say I didn't get any call. In the end it sounds like the greedy dealers got into a bidding war over these cars and we all missed out.

May simply confirm that demand is higher than supply at the moment, especially for cars that are available immediately, for which there are surely a couple dozen people around who don't care about paying a premium. Harder to judge what this says about longer term demand vs supply.

I can't agree with lodi more....everyone needs to take a breath and relax a bit on this manufacturers buyback issue. You have a well documented and well publicized history as to what the story is with these cars. The fact that by law these had to be bought back and engines replaced then put into a auction isn't the same situation as a manufactuers buyback because Porsche couldn't fix some sort of phantom problem with car that could not be retified and eventually had to be bought back from customer. In that situation sure there would be some real questions as to if problem was really resolved if you were to purchase one of those. Now the value proposition is whole different matter....the market will ultimately speak long term on what effects the title has on value but my guess is it will be minimal because of known engine replacement. These cars will be enjoyed and hopefully we are past any more GT3 major issues in general for the sake of everyone that owns or will own one.
