Exceeding 4500 will not void your warranty. It is nothing more than a recommendation by Porsche.

Since there was no [/sarc] closing tag, I have to assume...the worst.

IIRC the Euro owner's manual has a break-in "tip" that says to avoid high engine speeds for the first 3000 km (1865 miles).

I think they (European manuals) say to avoid high RPMs for the first 2000 km. So not really unlike US manuals - ours just spells it out more explicitly.

if I had known that we will be getting new engines, I would have tried that launch control at least few times. I never really followed the 4500 rpm limit to the letter, but rather kept it under 4500 for 1st 500 miles then slowly been increasing the RPM thereafter. My car has 1200 miles and I think I was up to 7000 RPM by the time I surrendered the car.

I guess I just confessed that I broke the rules, and my luck I get a call again tomorrow from lovely Katrina saying you have been denied getting the new engine for exceeding 4500 RPM, and your car will be returned back to you AS IS, for not following the break in instructions, and there will be no compensation offered to you if your old engine goes up in flames! Good luck to you....
