I agree with you on the above (cap, wheel, valve stem), especially at shows etc. I'm probably a little neurotic that way, as it bugs me to see a car on display with these off kilter! I even try to line up the screws on my light switch covers at home!! But then again, so does my electrician, so I'm not THAT crazy!

Interestingly, the factory tour guide mentioned that some workers will line up the cap with the valve stem on the wheel for cars on the assembly line too, so I agree that those 3 are not necessarily remarkable.

But all of the items I mentioned, including the brake disc and tire, is a little rarer. If you examine the lettering ("Michelin" on tire and "Porsche" on disc) on both of those, they are identically aligned also. I don't know of anyone who mounts tires that way. Or brake discs. That with the fact the other 3 were the same suggested it was highly unlikely to be a different car. Your point about this being done for shows reinforces that this is the same car, since it would also be a little unusual to have another RS formally displayed elsewhere at this time.

I can not find it now but in one of the After Sales documents for 997 (if I remember correctly) there is a description that says that the Porsche Crest on the wheel cap should have it's point towards the valve steam and that the lock wheel bolt should be opposite of the valve stem.

They are thorough.

On some older Porsches at least there was one wheel stud with red paint on the end, this was for the locking wheel nut which was a slightly different weight to the others.
I was told that the valve on the wheel was then fitted opposite the locking wheel nut stud, then the crest was actually fitted to point to the locking wheel nut, so it could be found easier in the dark.
Makes perfect sense to me, although the consensus now seems to be to have the crest pointing towards the valve.

Guys quick off topic.

how does the Porsche Track Precision works ?? I saw a video that shows real video of your driving with pedals, speed and etc. Is there a camera inside the car that transmit the video to iphone or ???

Thanks

The consensus is that the apps sucks. No direct exporting of video and you cant overlay performance criteria on the video. The aftermarket solutions are much better.

But where is the camera located ? Inside the car?
Or you must mount an iphone and record from it ?

http://www.aim-sportline.com/eng/pro...solo/index.htm is a pretty good setup.

I have an AiM MXL2 in my track car, which is a good call if you really want to go nuts. I'm not 100% sure it works with the 991 GT3, but wouldn't see why not.

Got my lava orange touch up paint sample. Let me emphatically say that there isn't a hint of salmon in it. Deep rich orange. No PTS for me
