News from dubai: just spending some days here and visited the porsche dealer today: they have 55 reservations and will get allocations of around 30! No allocations known yet! The most chosen colour will be by far orange cause it was the start colour in geneva, followed by white! Silver gt and purple almost not ordered yet! Maybe its of some importantce to some...
One dealership got 30 allocations? Wow.
There's what, 4 dealerships in the Dubai area? That's alot of GT3 RS allocations.
The feasibility tests includes fading and coverage...and that depends on the chemistry of every component of the paints - the primer, the base and the clear top-coat. Some colors will not cover with the same uniformity as others. For example, this PTS orange expressly made for a customer on his 997 Turbo was problematic. In short order, the paint on the bumpers & plastic parts didn't seem to match the rest of the metal panels on his Turbo!...So if they get approval for 'Ultraviolet' or 'Lava Orange', it doesn't mean that 'Voodoo Blue' or 'Signal Yellow' will pass that test.

Is it due to the different material used on the roof?
Yes, there are new materials on the surface of the 991 gt3 RS that are different from the standard gt3 and other 991's. In addition, there might be a few new subcontractors/vendors (e.g. bumpers) which might not have as much experience with PTS at their off-site plants. The latter's might not be as sophisticated as the paint equipment & robots that Porsche has invested at their 'state-of-the-art; paint facility in Zuffenhausen.
So as I understand it from NateOZ & others that are following this very closely because they are ordering a 991 gt3 RS and want PTS, PAG has said they will put together a list of approved PTS colors for just the 991 gt3 RS. These colors will be chosen from the more broad PTS list that is already approved for the regular 991 & 981. So this is an elite list of PTS colors that, for technical reasons and due to prior experience with coverage & consistency, are most likely NOT to give PAG a warranty headache if they agree to do them via PTS on this new model - the 991 gt3 RS.
I placed a deposit with Porsche two weeks ago but have yet to receive any word on an allocation. My dealer says not to worry as a lot of potential customers who have placed deposits have now asked for a refund. As I had already purchased a Turbo S from them, I think I'm good; not quite 918 priority, but close enough Oh and Dubai currently has over 60 GT3's
Eduardo, do you know if there have been any Oak Green 911's made in recent years? I'll enquire with my dealer as soon as I get a freakin allocation lol. Definitely will be my first choice and apricot beige a close second.

Yes, it's a color approved currently for the 991/981. And there are some recent examples, like this 2014 911 Turbo S which was originally ordered by Walters in Riverside, CA! This type of 'green metallic' is also one of the most popular colors for the members of Ferry Porsche's family! The color 'oakgrünmetallic / Oak Green Metallic' is color code 22L.

Awesome Eduardo, thank you! I must say that turbo s does look good with the yellow calipers. Some might say the RS deserves bright or bold colors but this reserved green might serve as a nice paradox to all the frantic fussiness of the RS
Wait a minute... I have Eduardo beat on PTS lists?
No way!
See attached.
Yes you did! And that is lesson for all of you. Don't rely in just one PTS 'know-it-all'...because he could be run by a tram or something! We need backup on this bench!
So I thank GreenLantern for posting the latest PTS list and helping the old man out!
