Consolidated 991RS thread

Just surprised that the price delta is going to be that large--$30k over a loaded Turbo S. Typically, the RS has not been positioned as such in the price structure of 911 variants, correct?
...BUT, at the same time, hardly anything has proceeded as previously thought during the GT3/RS rollout this time around, I guess.

Looks like the 918 seats?
Based on all the chatter- custom gearbox ratios option, lots of carbon/kevlar aero bits (front wheel well gurney, rear wheel well trailing edge, etc), carbon roof and hood, this is going to get to $225,000 w/options. Maybe $230,000. Mark my post for future reference.

cutom gear box ratio option??? GREAT of the x numbers of the RS, 90% will have fkd up gear ratio ordered. just peechee.... watch me shift from 1st to 5th as i cross the intersection and gear out by 50mph. if i wanted a custom car, i would have build one myself.
carbon fiber is for bicycles. they break and cost money.

IMO the rear wheels are gigantic and just reeks of a bunch of added rotating mass. There's no reason for them to be so huge other than bling-bling (also think of the phenomenal costs of tracking a car with 20+ inch wheels!) and yet here we have this wing that is crudely designed. It seems philosophically confused, this RS, in its design. Are we going for pure function or bling-bling? Which is it?

I would not expect a more elegant design for the wing given that they want it to look like the race car. It does produce massive downforce compared to most other factory street cars, save for maybe a P1. I'd prefer the get rid of CLs (which are even worse from a marketing "because racecar" standpoint) as a first priority.
The wing and uprights are actually pretty light....I was surprised.

The Scoops on the 993 Turbo S look good and sexy. After that, for me, they are an eye sore! I wish they could come get rid of them because they distract from the lines of the car. Or if they could perhaps make them look more like the 993 Turbo S - That round sculpted shape. I mean RUF did a way better job of their 991 Turbo Inlets before Turbo released their turbo.

Agreed, I suspect that the rear bumper is actually one from the turbo/S and those "stuck on" pieces are actually blocking the intercooler intakes that are present on the turbo bumper ...

there was this "one" turbo/S introduction article (cant recall which magazine) that mentioned that the Turbos would come with an optional CF roof panel, this never materialized, it would make a LOT of sense if the RS came with such, a great weight reduction in the right place!

The roof panel is already made of aluminum and as one can tell from lifting the hood (also aluminum) it must be pretty damn light. I wonder how much weight will be saved by using CF?
