Porsche is working on a track monster with the 991 GT3 RS...

(18 April 2014)

"The entire week is a coming and going of new test cars on the Nürburgring. We hadn’t seen the Porsche 991 GT3 RS for a while already. Maybe because of the problems with the engine of the GT3, but the car’s back. The GT3 RS showed up on the Nürburgring again to make a few laps.

The GT3 RS will be a big improvement of the previous generation, that’s something that Porsche will definitely make sure thanks to new technology. Optically, the car also got some adjustments. The wing on the back is way bigger than before and this is the first GT3 RS with air intakes on the hips. Before only the Turbo and Turbo S had these air intakes. This could mean that Porsche comes up with a new 4.0 engine which needs more cooling. The boxer engine will produce around 500 hp."

^The last pic makes me believe the rectangular pieces on the sides, the one with the trapezoid holes, is stuck on and will not be on the car.

Im liking the all black treatment on the test car.... total Vadar look.

Say what you will, but if the car has 500hp and a full clubsport option it will be one hell of a road and track car combo. It should outrun a 4.0L RS consistantly.

If it can outrun a 997GT2, then it is really worth a serious look.

Still, I cant see it being a "keeper" car like the manual tranny GT3s... But i am interested

You can see those seats pretty well. Hopefully they will be available soon for retrofit.

Please do not shoot me for saying this, but I think the wing may be a little too much although I am sure it is completely functional. I do like the GT3 wing. I think it is the right size and kind of looks like it belongs(part of the car).

Looks like the 918 seats?

Based on all the chatter- custom gearbox ratios option, lots of carbon/kevlar aero bits (front wheel well gurney, rear wheel well trailing edge, etc), carbon roof and hood, this is going to get to $225,000 w/options. Maybe $230,000. Mark my post for future reference.

I guess only time will tell, but $100K from base is a lot.

No, the ones on the rear bumper, below the brake vents. I'm not explaining this well.

If they're $250K they'll sell every last one of 'em.

The ones who can't/won't pay up will opine from the peanut gallery, and the ones who take the plunge will tell them how glorious it is and how the car is well worth the outlay, far superior to the base GT3, etc.
