Huh? Not following you on how a more expensive MSRP'd used car (RS) will sell at the same level as a lower priced MSRP'd used car (GT3). A $200,000 RS car used will always sell for more than than $150,000 used GT3 car - all things being equal ie; mileage, condition, etc.

My focus is not on what I can sell something for and lose or gain money. Someone here said these are just toys at the end of the day. I just don't think, for my hard earned money, that this RS justifies an extra $50 grand out of my pocket for basically the same car I have in my garage. Now, you can certainly argue, successfully perhaps, that the RS is a better track car than the 3. For the amount of tracking I will do - maybe once or twice a year and more of a DE than racing- the GT3 more than fits the bill. For me, and we all have our own prisms to look through, that graph showed me the RS is too close to the 3 to fork up the extra gelt.

In the video of the Orange RS in the hills, the tach shows 9000k rpm max. I wonder if they had to dial it back?????

Yes, but Porsche has seen that as well and maybe they've thought that they would like to capture that by charging more for the RS out of the gate. Maybe used GT3 vs new GT3 trades at the same discount as used RS vs new RS now given the pricing adjustment?

All depends on the units of production - anyone heard anything?

Is the production ending in September rumour confirmed?

My sense is that it's b and c. Seems like they put a lot of effort into the 991 GT3 and then priced it reasonably enough that plenty of them would show up at track events, kick ***, and foster Porsche's reputation. Then they made a modest effort to amp it up for the RS, and priced it at what the market will bear, giving the car both a healthy profit margin and some added cachet.

They should have just put the GT3 engine in the GT4, added some lightness, and called it the RS. Done.

I hope the downforce will be the biggest difference in the RS vs GT3. I'm also hoping the wider track, aero package and suspension of the RS fixes the squirmy behaviour of the 991 GT3 under very heavy braking.

we are agreeing 100%, i think you got confused in my last post

^^ This.

Stuff is actually moving faster in this 4.0 engine than the 3.8 in the 991 GT3. But, by virtue of the greater distance needed to cover, it's overall revolutions per minute are lower.

If I'm not mistaken (someone posted earlier in this thread, or another thread) that the piston speed for the 991 GT3 RS is only topped by the 918 Spyder, and that it tops the Lexus LFA (known for its absurdly high engine speed) which either tops or matches the 991 GT3.

Anyone e-mail Manthey yet or have their e-mail to put in the coll cage and seat belts and remove it before we drop it off at the dealer for shipping state side?
