Peter they will all kill you even on a sunny day if you f*ck up. I drove mine in Europe on the D2 in winter to Monte Carlo for Xmas without issue. There are some vids online as you know. I won't lie it seemed an achievement driving almost 4000 km in Europe through the whole of December on MPsC2 tyres and an often uninsured brand new 991 GT3 and I guess that was part of the appeal. Class A personalities will find taking a few chances to get somewhere attractive where others don't. That's always been the difference with driving any 911 fast the reputation they have for killing you - though I have to say the new 991 GT3 is a darling in this regard compared to my 993rs spec which has come closer to pulling it off by far.
My only concern if for the owners that buy an RS and don't drive it hard on road or track. I feel sorry for them...
488 will be a great road car tonnes of torque but maybe not as much fun as a Speciale or GT3. That said the base models of these special variants represent the best value for us mere mortals. Look at GT3 vs RS or 458 vs Speciale etc. if I could afford to own a Speciale and drive it like I do my 993 & GSt3 I would have it in favour of the other two without question. No idea about the 488 as it hadn't broken cover yet....

Place your bets gents!

991 gt3 7:25
997 gt2rs 7:18
From what we now know, my bet would be 7:20, 5 Seconds faster than the
991 GT3 on that 12 Mile Track and 1-2 Seconds faster than the GT3 on any shorter track in the U.S.A - Very similar to the differentials on previous 996 and 997 generations of GT3 vs GT3RS. I further believe, most of that differential will come from the added downforce of a decent wing on the GT3RS vs the virtually useless rear view blocking Engine Lid Brakelight Adornment we display.

Sounds like we need a poll with ranges to vote on. I wonder if they will publish Ring test times after the launch or will wait until Spring.

Or perhaps they will just make it up as they appear to have done with the GT4?

Put me down for 7.15. GT3=7.25 and I reckon they are sandbagging the Cayman and it's 7.35
Call me an optimist lol

My bet is 7:15-7:18 AND i AM HOPING FOR THE FORMER if not better. It already has an established 7:20 ring time and that was when it was still circling with camoflauge creating lift. I have read somewhere an unconfirmed report that it has managed a 7:07. Seems perhaps a little optimistic but if true that would be spectacular!! Watching ring test videos, it does seem incredibly well planted!!

I think it'll be more like 7.12, I think the GT3 number is held back materially by it's lower rear down force and that will make a larger difference than the weight delta and 25 more hp.

I agree that the GT4 number is sandbagged as well.

Weight is 1,390 kg. I have this figure from a very reliable source.

That would surprise me, since the RS and 918 share the exact same wheel and tire dimensions. Seems like a perfect opportunity to share...

So, 50kg (110 pounds) more than GT4. Very impressive for such a large and powerful road-legal modern car. Is this with every possible lightweight option (PCCB, etc.)? If not, should be able to sneak under 3,000 pounds with the right equipment.

... but only -40 kg vs. GT3 ...

Honestly I hope the RS brings A LOT MORE downforce than GT3. The +25 HP, +30 Nm (my info = 470 Nm) and -40 kg are disappointing to me in view of the price premium vs. GT3 (+35K€ in Germany)...

Paying $100k more for a a heavier and larger GT car is starting to make less and less sense. Anyone here having second thoughts about getting the RS vs the GT4?

Looks like I was almost smack on (my guess= 1395kg). Only 11lb difference. :-). Lets face it this was as good as it was going to be and I hesitate to say I believe that figure will be with the lightest configuration possible (i.e. PCCB+one piece buckets+a/c & radio delete+lighter LiIon battery). In reality I dont expect most customer 991 GT3RS to be below 1415kg...

I decided on getting both, was originally passing on the 4 but it seems like too good of a value buy. Strangely, my wife also really likes the idea and is talking about keeping the Gt4 for herself to pass to our son in 14 years.....
