dealer conversation on availability
Talked to dealer today and have now heard the same twice. These are attributed to verbal comments from porsche NA
1) 4.0 liter
2) 500plus hp
3) 20 front 21 rear
4) 600 units for NA up from 500 after press from dealers. Of those 300 likely to 918 which leaves approx 300
5) The distribution will be based on total 911 sales and a percentage of those likely that beverly hills will get 18 RS for example, based on large volume, This would be in addition to their 918 customers may bring total to 23/24. This is the calculation formula based solely on 911 sales.
5) 180K base
6)future 991 gt3rs may get extra hp in gen2 from electric and hybrid systems as the 991 platform was designed to be big enough to allow the motors. This was his speculation as opposed to turbo in future. So that while this won't be the last RS it may very well be the last na RS.

So it is quite possible the 918 Spyder technology could be filtered down to the RS. Although the 918 is a hybrid is the V8 engine still considered NA?
Also point 5 you make is the same as how one dealer mentioned it works in the UK...

While I'm glad to hear any future GT3/RS will be fully NA, if they add any hybrid system whatsoever (batteries & electric motors) the car will inevitably be heavier. It will follow the 918's footsteps of being faster all around, but heavier nonetheless.
Perhaps Porsche will move to making the chassis and other bits out of carbon fiber and other exotic materials with future generations of the 911 GT models. Now there is an idea...

Not unless the rest of the 911 range starts to use more CF. Otherwise, the parts bin methodology will continue to dictate a majority of the car outside of the rumored frunk and roof. This is one area where McLaren lucks out. It's original car 12C had a CF tub (and 3.8L v8) so now it can share with its other lines for cost savings.

I do want hybrid tech in a 911, but not a GT3 RS. Actually, not any GT 911, for that matter. A 911 hybrid might be a nice DD, though, in the far future, when the tech improves a bit more. It's come a long way (918 Spyder vs. a Prius), but it has a bit further to progress in my opinion.

I'm sure many felt the same about the PDK-S, Drive by Wire, Electronic steering and Rear Wheel Steering as well. I think they've all proven to be beneficial though. That being said, I'm sure there are plenty of people who still wish their car was more "analog". I'm not saying any of the above is better or worse, I'm just saying, be careful of what you wish for...
Then there are those who want the best performing car at all costs. Regardless of the technology used. I'm sure some people would buy a Pontiac Aztek if the Nurbugring figures were 6 minutes 57 seconds
I apologize for that last remark, the thought of a sub 7 minute Aztek lol
