^ see this article - will help understand benefits of magnesium over carbon:
http://www.precisiontandems.com/cat_...amagnesium.htm
I have Ducati Superleggera which has a magnesium frame - Ducati did lots of tests comparing carbon with aluminium and magnesium and found magnesium offered many benefits that carbon (lightness) offers along with Alu which allows the frame to flex - so the magnesium gave both qualities of each with lightness too - the problem they found with carbon was it was too stiff and therefore affected the handling; Alu was heavy and the project was all about lightness. I have to say, the bike handles amazing compared to the frame on the R bike - so the RS WILL be amazing I reckon.

My chemist buddy says that Sun light is very damaging to CF and the resin required to protect it is very expensive and adds weight. This kinda reminds of some yellowing of interior bits on past Porsches.
I've ridden a Magnesium bicycle and it does ride a little softer than a full CF bike.

Yes, funny how the 964 can swing open the door with window frame easy access.. 997RS I could barely get out without window frame. Well at least I carpeted the trailer inside, but it will be tight.

Never heard of a GT3 bottoming out on suspension and certainly not due to weight (note that suspensions are rated for a car's weight - hard to bottom out unless you really slam it into the speed bump.) Mine never did. These cars are not heavy by any stretch of imagination, not the 3 nor 3RS to bottom out due to weight. There is something else going on or it is truly rubbing due to car being so low; may be tips of the exhaust? The 997 3 and 3 RS were about 40-50lb apart without use of carbon. With the use of carbon, I hope the target weight comes to 80-100lb less than the 3? Really hard to say. Kevin.

From: Somewhere in a galaxy far, far away....
I came across a white 991 Turbo in Boca last week. It appeared slightly lowered on custom wheels.
Being the same body as the upcomng RS, I could not help but visualize it with a large wing.... I think the new RS is going to have one hell of a presense on the street.
