I am assuming that everybody knows it but there are several other shots that are uncovered also before....not sure if anyone knew at the time they were uncovered?

I might add that the final car looks much better in lighter colors as all the vents look awesome against the non black exteriors.

I've been working with their design engineers <www.crawfordcomposites.com> for several months and they designed and built a new higher Wing with 10X the downforce and brake lights installed in the extended uprights for our 991 GT3s that will not destroy the downforce as our present 18 inch Brakelight on the active surface does. It is also FAR better on the road as it does not block the view out the rear window. See my new Avatar for Photo.
Would you mind posting some pics of your rear wing? The avatar is very small and can't be enlarged. I checked the crawfordcomposites website but I can't find pics of it

They really aren't that rare as compared to the GT3.

1909 of the 997.1 RS (2378 of GT3)
1600 of the 997.2 RS (2256 of GT3)

I'm actually surprised with how many 2rs they made, considering how hard core that car is! Then add the 4.0 to the 2rs and you have a production nr of 2200 gen 2 RS!!!! My guess is if the 1rs will be more street friendly we could see high production numbers?

And by the way, I miss driving on snow and ice! So much fun! 😛😛

The 991 RS will be the most hardcore least street-friendly RS to date, if AP has kept to his word, which was essentially that because the 991 GT3 is so street friendly it allows them to go more extreme with the new RS - further than they have been before... PARTY TIME boys

I'm looking forward to seeing what type of spray those front wheel vents throw up in the wet....

PAG: Don't forget the factory installed rollbar mounting plates.

those are nice pics. whats the purpose of those fender vents? Do they relieve or divert some air from the wheel wells?

Yup. Reduce pressure build up/lift.

Manthey claimed 15lb additional downforce from their wheel arch gurneys, which is why you see extended versions of these on the RS vs the base GT3.

It'll be interesting to see what type of numbers Porsche attribute to the front wheel vents as well as to overall downforce.

Im sure Ill eat my words but this is coming off like a parts kit adventure versus a cohesive car style-wise...the turbo inlets really don't tickle my fancy. (flame suit on).

<< donning flame suit >>

+1

The inlets should have been styled like the RSR, not like the turbo.

They will help ram air in the engine compartment and maybe the intake plenum to keep the motor cooler, give more hp and they are also there to prep people for the future...a turbo charged lower displacement model. At 4.0 L the only way to get more Hp the next time around would be a flat 8 and that is not going to happen...so turbo will be the only way to get more power after this incarnation along with complying better with Euro and CAFE emissions standards. That is how I am thinking about it...I could be wrong, but I think it's the logical conclusion.

I think this car in person will have so much more presence than what's seen on the pics. I think everything works but the little extension of the engine lid where the rear spoiler Aluminum posts are attached to. It's too long and blah and overlaps the tail lights; takes away from the overall look of the rear; it kinda looks sad looking down with an overextended mouth!
