Consolidated 991RS thread

yes it does, but the RS look is compelling. I am seriously considering ordering one if I can still get an allocation from my dealer. Ultimately keeping just one of them yet to be determined.

I guess you could say the regular GT3 is better for people who care more about looks and things like stitching, whereas the RS is for people who care more about having the greatest drivers car with the least options possible Me - I just want the rawest 911 on offer with the best performance. I want zero options, but unfortunately I need a lift in London.
Clearly it's all about looks for me. Do agree with previous poster 991 GT3 is well resolved. 991 RS rear bumper is poorley resolved IMO the front spoiler lip ver thick and runs right up the front bumper sides will look odd in colours other than lack perhaps. The rear cover vent treatment reminds me of carrera S the rear fender treatment of 991tts and I also don't like ehe flattened fat haunches. The impact of the black front fender vents will be highly dependent on colour.
Don't gear me wrong I'm sure it will have huge physical presence especially in the signature launch colour. It will be a Stella performer too and no doubt an instant collectable for the speculators and investors.
However purely on design terms it is busy, bold and Brash and I do not believe as attractively visually packaged as the car it's based on. Personal opinion of course....

Don't like the wing? Rear too wide? Don't like hood and roof relieves? Music to my ears.
Could care less how it looks so long at it works. Form follows function. Looks DTM-inspired to me.

Mate you are so hard core!!!!
Doesn't have a manual so strike it from your list!
Us posers can drive PDK GT3 + RS and discuss car values over coffee and donuts :-)
I still have guaranteed allocation out of Europe. I'll probably pass dependant on final unveil. But if someone RoW may want my slot should possibly talk...

I have not doubt it will show the 458 sp its heels. I also agree 100% about RS variants being OTT compared to their stock GT3 siblings and this seems to have been the case since the 996RS, but dont believe it was the case historically as per my 964 & 993 RS back then it was very subltle little things like spoiler, wheels and stance. After 996RS became very bold statements like stickers, colours and wider bodies etc.
Im just saying, from a design POV the stock GT3 is the cohesive. But I agree the GT3RS should look over the top and i think in orange this one will look the most outrageous yet.
Yes RHD C98.

Looks like I am going to Geneva, if work schedule allows.

Not a fan of this RS
I have one now (997.2 RS..avatar) but passed on the 991
Just too busy for me...the concave (convex?) roof & frunk, vents cut into every fender, huge wing and the tractor-sized 21" rear wheel. Hope the final version is better in person

All those things you dislike are for performance enhancements over the standard 3... Certainly not for bling. I am convinced this is the final look for production cars.

Just need to make sure I can grab one. I was led to believe the GT3 would be difficult to obtain...it was not. I'm led to believe the RS will be near impossible...I'm thinking it'll just be difficult. Fingers crossed and money deposited.
FWIW, the wing is a touch too racer and the front fender vents are vette-esque but I'm loving the overall package and anticipating the performance.
