Yeah, I should have posted my rumor on this thread. Moderators merged RS threads before, so perhaps one more time?

Default GT3 RS rear fender air intakes

I wished they had engineered the rear fender cooling air intakes more subtle; like in this link here:

Rumor is we may get some RS news in the next week or two. Take it for what it is.

True it's two weeks, and will be a Geneva in March. 500 HP's, and base 180k good luck on getting one!

First on a good dealer list, so I am hopeful.

The original spec is the right one...4.0 500+HP, definitely no Manual. It interesting, the info I had gotten from a few sources at first seems not to have changed at all, despite the high amount of speculation..
Turbo?..No
Manual? ..No
4.0 n/a? yes
500+hp? yes
Magnesium alloy roof? yes
Sports seats? ..yes
CF composite components in front? yes

The real item I can get no proper, verifiable info on is wheels. Lots of speculation on 918 wheels, $30K price and so on, but I cannot find a single person at Porsche who will even speculate on that.

Wow - that's a bunch for wheels. Would make me pretty paranoid of potholes

I couldn't understand why this would be of interest to any GT3 RS customer, until I figured you must be referring to the upgraded 918 Weissach edition wheels that are described as:

"Wheels inspired from the RS Spyder racing car, made of forged magnesium achieving the greatest possible stability and rigidity with the least material
All surfaces completely reconditioned including the individual wheel spokes offering an extremely light, very torsion and flexional resistant structure without impairing the basic strength of the wheels
Flexural strength increased by up to 80 % in comparison to the standard 918 Spyder wheels
Weight advantage of more than 26 lbs, compared to the standard 918 Spyder wheels
High quality titanium-colored paint finish of the magnesium wheels, offering an excellent look, effective corrosion prevention and easy cleaning
Secured through an anodized, titanium colored central locking device including the wheel hub cover with colored Porsche Crest
Specially developed Michelin Pilot Sport 2 ultra high performance tires
20-inch with 265/35 ZR 20 tires (front)
21-inch with 325/30 ZR 21 tires (rear)"

I would not pay $30k for wheels..but we are all different. I just saw that rumoured and posted here, but as I mentioned there is not any factual info available (at least to me)...

Although I am of the understanding that the wheel/tyre fitments will be the same for the 991 RS as the 918 I cannot understand why Porsche would offer the 918 wheel or indeed why anyone would specify it as an option (at that price). The 991 GT3 wheel is a piece of artwork and is forged alloy (strong, durable reasonably priced). Ive owned magnesium wheels (964RS) and know others with magnesium centres (993 GT3 speedline 3 piece) and they require special attention and preparation when painting plus questionable long term durability (fracturing). Cany think why anyone would choose them over the 991 GT3 wheel design - they are a ubiquitous BBS/cargraphic spoke design and although classic are not unique in design.

Ronan, any info about rear wheel steering or not? That's the other piece of the puzzle that people have heard different answers to.

And I presume your salesperson at your Porsche dealer is A.G.?

I can't see not offering RWS as standard. Without it, the car will likely be slower around a track than the GT3.

Honestly, if this car is pushing 200k with options and only has 500hp, in 2015, it will be pretty disappointing. That would still be 150hp and I'm sure over 200tq less than a z06, but also a lot less than the 650S, 458, Vanquish, Huracan, SLS, M6, etc.
