Macca, thanks for the pics and descriptions. Always appreciated.
Just want to clarify. Your car doesn't have the front end lift, right? And no problems scrapping the front end, even on ancient cobblestone roads?

Very encouraged to hear that you think it will make a great DD. That's what I'm buying mine for! After my RS, with loads of track mods, the car was simply no longer tolerable for me as a street car. I plan to keep this one stock. I've got the truck and fully kitted trailer, so a dedicated race car comes next.

24Chromium. You have the right idea here. Too many think the GT3 is a race car. Buy a used cup car for half the GT3 cost and you have a car perfectly suited to the track that will make the GT3 seem very soft....
I used the tyre pressure monitor to guage heat in the tyres. Once I showed 2.2 on fronts and 2.4+ on rears (cold around 1.9 and 2.1) I knew I had enough heat in them to allow a little extra latitude. That said taking it easy in full auto made progress very swift and safe. You simply cant change as smoothly in a manual as you can a PDK and this really is the key on slippery surfaces as the car lets the clutch in in a much more controlled manner. Not once did we get the TC light on unless I put a full boot into it. The Michelin PSC2 is a new generation tyre like the Super Sport and seems to have much wider application than the older MPSC IMO. This tyre is good for a much wider range of conditions and temps....
So today we drive from Como to Rapallo and finally now the running in Kms completed we get to find out what she is like at 9000rpm. Guys, firstly the sound is quite incredible - very addictive. You need alot of road. I have some gopro footage of us leaving a toll booth on the autostrada for the first time flooring it and quite simply its the fastest car Ive driven. In no time we were at 205 kmph, the sound is glorious, the shifts held to 9000rpm and this was in full auto. Later we repeatedly did the same in manual in tunnels with the windows down the gopro footage is quite remarkable. Through the twisty roads from Milano to Rapallo the car sticks like glue, steering direct and scalpel like.
Now in Rapallo the daytime temps are 13-15 and only 5-6 overnight. Tomorrow I will drive alone the Rapallo to Bobbio route - 95km of very windy untrafficed roads some say one of the greatest but least known driving roads in Northern Italy. Google says 2hrs & 2 mins. Lets see! I should hope by the time I return I should have the measure of this car. Weather is perfect and temps should be around 10-14C so tyres will not be an issue.....
Check out a preview....

macca - you are living the dream and making your wife happy with a great euro trip.
2 birds with one stone and all that.
you will keep these memories forever especially if the car is a keeper, you'll be reminded every time you drive it at home.
good work.

CAlexo. Best with the op my man. Will have some live footage from Bobbio run tomorrow have to figure what to do with it to get in on youtube. Just ran the route in 3D on googlemaps - bloody awesome - 95Km each way some of the windiest roads around! Cant wait.
Looking to see if I can get to do the Monza circuit Saturday.
AussieJimmy. Always enjoy your changing avatars LOL! Yes, we are very fortunate people, all of us really. If you ever decide to import your own Porsche like I have done to save some $$$ in Oz PM me offline after my trip and Ill tell you how you could achieve the same as I have. You would pay for the 6 weeks away and still save 40K aud over the Australian price which is even more outrageous than the NZ one!
