$330k?... Wtf?... Who would pay that... Almost 3x what Europe and USA pay???

Why doesn't everyone grey market import.. You can have it arrive on a gold foil lined trailer with 10 dancing girls protecting it and it and you'd still save $150k. Absurd

I'm curious; in the countries with these super high prices do you have income taxes and if you do what rate?

In NZ we dont have any import duties on cars. So the 230,000 USD a base 991 GT3 lists for is all margin for Porsche and their distribution partners!

The income tax in NZ ranges from 19%-36%. Most people earning 100k USD equivalent pa would pay around an average of 29% tax on that income. The average published wage is around 36K USD (although generally accepted that is low as it includes any work more than 20 hrs a week and many part time people are in that number).

Thanks for the info, I thought the high price was due to taxes. At least your income tax rate isn't that bad as they go.

I know. Its really frustrating. We dont earn as much down here and although our tax isnt outrageous its not a tax free country. there is no import duties on any cars and "only" 15% Goods and Services tax (local sales tax). They call the place the Switzerland of the Pacific and its rapidly getting that way form a cost of lifestyle perspective.

The 95K USD MSRP we pay above the USA is totally unexplained. It appears Porsche make extra margin out of NZ & Australian on cars and blame it on volume but in truth I doubt a market like Ireland sells more cars than Australia and yet they only pay similar price as USA for their cars. The freight component maybe adds $1500 to get car to NZ vs USA or Ireland!

The 95k additional is outrageous, do you have to pay that if you pick up the car in Germany as you are doing? If not, you're a smart man.

Unfortunately the savings are not as great as that, partly because the European price is 15% higher than the USA price in the first place an also because there are extra charges such as factory collection and having the car registered & insured for driving in Europe. The savings are less than half that amount but the experience of driving in Europe is attractive...

Even half is a lot, plus it's way more fun! You still get credit for being a smart guy.

Remember when factory collection meant getting a discount on the purchase price?

European Delivery is now a no cost option in the States, although I'm guessing that 2 weeks insurance, free night in a hotel, taxi fare, lunch at the Porsche restaurant etc. are no longer part of the package and free. Macca, are you saying factory delivery is an upcharge in NZ? I looked on your configurator, but there are no prices for anything....
