Congrats Macca! OT> In regards to the winter tire conversation we were having last week, I spoke with TireRack USA and they confirmed that they have a note in the system that the 295 rear winters (Pirelli AND Michelin) should NOT be installed on the 12” GT3 rear wheel. It DOES say that those tires will fit an 11.5” rear wheel but no one even knows which wheels will work with the new hubs so we are all SOL for winter tires (for now).

Oh well that clears that up then! I just spoke to a guy I know in Germany who received on of the first 991TTS. He also has GT3 about to be delivered next month. In Germany you must move to winter tyres on some roads 01 Nov. He has mounted winter tyres on 991TTS as it has 11" rims. The GT3 has 12 and he is not aware of any tyre that will work within spec but says a tyre will be available in the near future he is told...

Macca I don't know if this is any help but MPSS tires, which are available in the correct size, are pretty decent in winter conditions. I unintentionally found this out last winter when one of the snow tires was ruined by a pothole early last March on my DD (a heavily modded 2012 VW Jetta GLI; 400hp and lowered). I'm in the NY metro area and thats early to remove snow tires but being as the weather was mild at the time I decided to put the MPSS tires back on. Subsequently we ended up having a great deal of winter weather and the tires performed amazingly well in cold weather, no problem at all. They were even ok, not good, in light snow when I got caught out a couple of times. I am putting these on my GT3 when I get it in January and if I was picking my car up in Germany at that time of year it's what I would use.

new GT3. Thanks for the data point. I have actually just purchased MPSS for the 993 (street wheels) and also decided to place an order for the MPSS for the GT3. I asked the Euro dealer to source some but he said I cant ship them inside the car on the transporter to New Zealand so would have to leave them behind or ship by air (expensive). I believe the difference between the MPSS and MPSC2 isnt so big now so Ill just run the factory tyre (Dec isnt as cold as Jan) and put the MPSS on the car in NZ once I have finished with the MPSC2s (after 6000km in Europe I suspect 2-3 track days will take care of those). I hear very good things about MPSS but yet to drive them myself...
