From what I read on Rennteam, the valve train was not necessarily "the reason". As of now it's just another rumor - although supposedly it's the "biggest rumored issue". Which makes me wonder how we all missed such a big rumor.

My "buddy" at the dealer laughed at the idea that there was a "technical problem" which caused the delay. He simply says they were trying to push more sales for the TT/s first. The GT3 was tested to death already and the engine wasn't really a last minute addition in their four year development process. The GT3 launch was back in march and the TT was launched recently, somehow the TT hit the show rooms first. With no confirmation of any official reasoning for the delay, I would buy that theory.

I don't believe this, though I suppose its as good as any other theory/rumor.

All dealers got a letter from PAG stating that the delays were due to a GT3 'standard option part,' meaning a part specific to the GT3 and not common with other 991s. It doesn't seem plausible the PAG would stop production, let some cars sit, have wild swings with production and delivery dates on their system (the swings in build/delivery I've seen are huge), then pull the dates back in line not too far away from original dates.

That's a lot of trouble to push the sales the first turbos hitting dealers.

IMO.

You may be right, guess my buddy was trying to make me feel special by hinting that the GT3 is more desirable than the TT/s. What ever floats my ego without hurting any else is good for me.

LOL!

So I'm friends with the GM at the local dealer. He told me that one of his customers, long time customer, ordered a Turbo S. He wanted the GT3 wheels on it and had the GM email someone at PAG. I figured they'd respond with a statement that the offsets are all wrong and cannot do that.

Instead, PAG responded with "No. It is our policy not to put wheels from a higher end model onto a lower car."

Ha!

Now, I don't see it that way, but perhaps PAG sees the GT3 as more of a halo car than the TTS.

Haha. Well, the GT3 on the Porsche website does sit at the end of the model listing...starts with base Carrera and moves all the way up the ranks...ending with the GT3.

Now how come you could get turbo wheels as an option on base carrera.

Same for the aero kit which basically was the 2007 GT3 wing on a base carrera

Was in the neighborhood today (nowhere near) and stopped by my dealer who checked my order status. Am very happy to discover my car entered the paint shop today, it was scheduled for tomorrow. The anticipation builds.
Also saw a new Rhodium Silver TT-S, both car and color looked very nice.
