The gearbox issue is being addressed by the increase in capacity of the integrated oil cooler. This has already been identified but needs to be cycle tested.

The rod/piston "failures" is entirely inaccurate. Its a tolerance to wear issue (heat/speed/friction/metallurgy) and additional Ti components will be now become standard at no additional cost to customer and quite some cost to Porsche (rightly so in this instance). This was picked up on mules, but late. The engine will be strong for 10,000 rpm.

According to first hand data there were severe rod failures on the big end AND hair cracks around the piston pin radius.

Unfortunate if true... This has been my key concern other than lack of manual with regards to a new engine from Porsche... Learned the hard way with the CLs debacle that whilst good, their engineering is farrrrr from perfect, yet others were quick to put all their faith in Porsche to get it right...

These are troubling reports which increase my concerns about how the car will hold up when faced with tens of thousands of miles of real track use. Then add in the concern about the warranty not being honored if the car is tracked and you could have a perfect storm.

@Macca -- Thanks for all the great info. Has been very helpful throughout the waiting process. Any word on how much longer of a delay we're looking at?

Actually I don't consider it troubling at all. What would be troubling is having a failure after purchase. Let Porsche do their thing, delay a little and deliver all of us a solid product.

The troubling part is that Porsche's testing (and resulting design mods) may not address what tens of thousands of real track miles will reveal.

That statement is valid with any manufacturer...

The biggest problem I see is what can be done now to fix it last minute...without delaying deliveries even further and causing massive hysteria...
Also, when I hear about engine problems,my hope that we'll see this engine in the CUP becomes slimmer...
PDK-S cooling issues could probably be fixed easily and quickly...

True, but Porsche has delved into somewhat new territory with 9K redline, RWS, and PDK in a GT3, so I think that elevates the risk of unforeseen problems in the future.

Speaking of which, what have people heard about durability and overheating of PDK in other Porsches that have been heavily tracked? I don't see many PDK cars at the track, and none that I've seen have had a lot of track miles.

Exactly. And which other manufacturer has a better history of reliability than Porsche? Especially on the track.

Latest rumor is customer deliveries will begin mid to late November assuming new problems do not arise. What I do not understand is why these problems were not anticipated or surfaced earlier.

It has often been said do not buy a totally new product in its first year on the market. I guess there is some validity to the statement.

Hey, maybe they will get the sport seats approved for the US market before they resolve the mechanical issues.

Then Porsche should honor the warranty if the car's tracked, whereas indications these days are that they can't be counted on to do that.

I'm not worrying too much at this point...will keep the faith that when we (finally) get our cars, they will be well sorted.

Now...has anyone paid attention to what's been going in with the C7 deliveries? What a fiasco! Transmission failures, QC issues across the board. One example of sport seats where the mounting bolts weren't even finger tight...

Sorry, can't agree with that conclusion. I'm surprised that any company will warranty track usage.

You claim to run 30 days a year. At 200 miles per day, you could have 24,000 track miles on the car before the warranty expired. Would you give somebody a warranty for that kind of use?
