"918 buyers get first right of refusal on all Porsche limited edition cars... Straight from the factory... for 10 years. THEN the remaining allocations are handed to the dealer network. There are over 200 current 918 buyers/orders now for the US market. How many of you 918 owners are going to eat up our less than 500 vehicle RS allotment? The top tier of Porsche model purchasing has just changed... Unless you bought a 918."

Today I received notice of additional delivery delay. My November 15 completion date has been changed again to January 10 and dealer delivery changed from Jan. 3rd to February 28th, 2014. Personally, I believe our early GT3s are being bumped and re-assigned to new 918 Buyers.
Daaam... And I was not sure about buying another set of track tires for my current car. I knew this was too good to be true

I also wonder if, assuming the bumping scenario you describe is true, whether it's being done on a universal basis or dealer by dealer. OTOH, it's possible your delay has to do with the reported supplier issues, not with 918 buyers. I still haven't been notified of any change to my build schedule. Interesting......
My GT3 is the first to be delivered by my dealer and I have full confidence that they have not played any role in the two month delay. I have ordered numerous new Porsches and Mercedes over decades and they all have been delivered very close to the accepted and confirmed factory delivery date. With "delivery priority" given to 918 buyers, I fear we may have become defacto 2nd tier clients with orders to be filled on an "as available" basis. It also may be possible that some dealers are given a higher 2nd tier delivery priority than others.
OTOH, with no explanation given, the alternate rumor of defective parts may be the correct reason for the delay and this may apply to ALL GT3 orders. Time will tell.

Anyone else get informed about a new delay in production for your order?

Do I want a delay? No. Do I want my ordered car to arrive somewhere close to my estimated date? Yes!

I keep reading about delays and waiting for the other shoe to drop on my order. So I called my rep again today and per the computer, still no change in my projected November build/January delivery date. Fingers crossed.....

I heard from an informed source that the cause of the delay was a global shortage of warning/idiot lights - seems all the manufacturers have underestimated the volume of idiot lights necessary to meet the modern driver's needs, given the obviously more important tasks of texting and internet surfing while "driving"...

As of now, my date is just pushed back 1 week--SoCal--to mid / late February delivery.

I wonder if the 4-6 week delays noted on this forum affect those with the earliest initial deliveries (December)?

The lack of transparency and consistency is odd and frustrating.

At this point, rather than pestering my dealer, I'm just going to wait until November to ask for another update. Hopefully the dates in the system will be more static by then...

See my post above. I think my original delivery was one of the earliest in the U.S. Now 4-6 weeks later.

Spoke to my SA today and my delivery date has been pushed back 5 weeks from the original date so we are experiencing delays in Canada too....

I really don't mind as my will be arriving during winter and with the delay, I'm hoping PTS opens up so I can do that...

Paint to sample is now on the US configurator for the GT3.

Guys, stop pestering your dealers, they will come in no faster by doing that. Just wait and savor the wait
