JCR titanium exhaust cracking all over, is this common ?
I hate making this post but I'm a little upset to say the least. Has anyone else experienced these issues with their JCR exhaust or other titanium exhausts for that matter?
I should mention this happened in the course of 4-5 track days and very little road use, so mainly looking for opinions from track guys with this exhaust.
One hanger weld is completely torn off and the other one is almost there, plus I also have multiple 3+ cracks in the x pipe welds.
Update on my situation: I was initially pretty upset but Jonny from JCR did reach out and since I've already shipped my exhaust to a fabricator in the states, as a good will gesture JCR generously offered to cover the repair cost. I am happy with the outcome and I appreciate them making the effort when they didn't have to, especially since I'm not the original purchaser of the exhaust.
Sorry to see that. I haven't experienced that with the jcr system on my car, but it hasn't been in the air in some time to check,, nor has it seen the specific use case you described. If you haven't yet, I would contact jcr. I expect they would take care of that. Let us know the outcome.
Should have given JCR a chance to remedy before airing on a public forum

Guess what, that is exactly what i did 2 months ago. I was given the "opportunity" to buy a new one. That's fine I honestly didn't expect anything from them seeing how they are located in the UK and don't have the same warranty or customer satisfaction as the USA companies. I also purchased this second hand from a local so maybe that played a role in their decision as well.
I'm just trying to figure did i get unlucky and got the worst batch they made or are they not made for track use. I do love the way it sounds and i would buy another one if i knew it can hold up to track use.
So back to my original question does anyone track their car with this exhaust system?
Its also nice to hear from a couple people that it holds up fine to normal street use. Thank you for the feedback.
Have seen similar failure on a car from IG. I do not know any details other than the owner repaired it locally had holes similar to yours. I do not know what the arrangement between the owner and JCR was if any.
Wow those are in the exact same places as mine, thank you so much for those.
That’s what I was afraid of, I am going to try and have it repaired locally as well but it’s not going to be cheap and if it cracks again somewhere else I would be mad.
The trouble with all Titanium exhausts is that when they exceed 400c temps they absorb Nitrogen from the air which has an effect of making it harder and more brittle. Its very light and make great looking exhaust tips but have issues. Where it gets very hot a high Nickel alloy such as Inconel is superior despite being heavier. Even Stainless steel 321 is better in this scenario.
OP, I had the exact same problem with mine. I track my car so going over curbing is not uncommon and it's this that causes the exhaust to move vertically and stress the weld points. The welds themselves are not sufficient to carry the load as they don't make enough contact with the tubing. JCR modified the design slightly, created a mounting bracket to carry the load of the center piece back to the rear chassis, and sent a new exhaust to me. Sadly the tips don't fit right in the bumper cutout (too low) so I'm still not happy. I only did two track days last year so I have no feedback on longevity. I will say I believe cars that are only street driven won't experience this issue.
I hope you can get it resolved to your satisfaction.
