EasyCare-TotalCare liability limit is the ACV of the car at the time of the claim.

Any idea which companies have that level? The few I have looked into have capped at a $20-$25k single claim.

Don’t forget to ask your dealer to quote you a Porsche warranty, either platinum (bumper to bumper) or powertrain. I got the power train warranty for another 6 years for my 2015 GT3 two months ago through my dealer. Cost was very reasonable.

Was your car still on CPO when you got that quote?

Likely covered under the porsche 10yr warranty they added on the 991.1 gt3 models due to the well known engine issues

This is very uncommon unless you are still under factory warranty. My local dealer told me I would need to find a 3rd party option.

I was not on a CPO warranty, only had a year left of the ten year engine warranty. Maybe I lucked out, IDK.

I know of someone with a 991.1 GT3 that just had an internal engine component failure. Porsche told the dealer to take the engine apart and they would only cover it under the 10 year warranty if it was one of two things. Anything else would not be covered and on the owner. This is something that I was not aware of, but now realize if you blow your motor and you have a 991.1 covered under the 10 year extended warranty period and it's not one of the two issues that they are looking for, it looks like it's an out of pocket rebuild expense. If so, a good reason to have a CPO or a solid drivetrain warranty with no cap or limit per repair. Some of these aftermarket warranties with caps or policy limits don't make sense, if you are trying to protect against catastrophic failure.

Probably best to go through your insurance if the $100,000 engine replacement becomes an issue.

Car insurance doesn’t cover engine repair if it malfunctions unless your suggesting insurance fraud.

Not at all, not suggesting that. But I thought if an engine throws a rod through the block, leaks oil all over the road, and requires substantial repairs, it will cover it under comprehensive?

I do not believe so, "Comprehensive insurance coverage is defined as an optional coverage that protects against damage to your vehicle caused by non-collision events that are outside of your control. This includes theft, vandalism, glass and windshield damage, fire, accidents with animals, weather, or other acts of nature."
