Ok, this just ended at BAT: https://bringatrailer.com/listing/20...omments-anchor, the fashion gray one in discussion

MSRP was $185+, but who knows what the actual purchase price was. Sold on BAT may 2022 for $236,000.00, now just resold for reportedly $205,000.00

Intersting. Dunno what to make of it, but I'm sure you all can .

I think I admire bat for representing 0.000000000000000000000001% of the nationwide auto sales and being discussed daily like some sort of index, hell of a job by that team

You are preaching to the choir, believe me!
Still waiting for the proper color / options combo, but I am certainly not unhappy to see some price correction here and there in the meantime.

Well, it represents a small fraction, but at least the SALE price is transparent for all to see.
How would you know what the cars listed on cars dot com or at dealerships go for?
A lot of it is smoke and mirrors, including dealers selling to one another as has been extensively described here… so we are left with BaT, PCar and other members who are willing to share on their own deals.

Do you have other sources you feel you can trust on this matter?

It was more a business observation than attempt to discredit. But I do think bat data is insufficient to decipher trend as is regularly attempted, far too much stock in these individual auctions -- whether positive indicators for values or negative.

Plenty of buyers have shared purchase and/or trade in details here, we don't hang on their every transaction like it's value gospel, compellingly representative of more than that one transaction on that day.

The mannheim data I see posted from time to time seems a better source of trend/future to me.

And having negotiated for numerous cars, traded some, I don't dismiss list prices. Odds are the "real" market is within a reasonable % of list. It's not like the avg list price of a 991.2 is 190k (speculating) but really, in the dead of night, dealers are moving them for 50k less.

A change of market is to be expected. The expectation of value creation is what drives discretionary purchases such as luxury cars. And for many it's difficult to believe in strong value creation when headlines talk of recession, falling real estate prices and still-increasing interest rates.

Different market altogether, but you had to promise your first-born and a kidney to get offered a new Range Rover a few months ago. I got two voice mails this week with offers.

i thought i had bought the lava one from collectingcars over the weekend but the seller flaked out or the auction site convinced him to just rerun the car... the search continues

it was rnm at $180,500. i wasnt high bidder, i stopped at 180. someone from collectingcars called immediately to say the reserve was 182 if we wanted to make a deal. i said i would if the seller agreed to a ppi cause he had no dme, no idea what kind/brand aftermarket exhaust was installed, didnt know his car had cpo on it (i called porsche myself) and vague on the details/balance on his loan. we had a verbal agreement there but i knew it was going south after a couple days of no response.
both the seller and auction company were less than helpful

sounds like you dodged a bullet. interesting that you were outbid and they called you immediately to make a deal. did the winning bidder tell them to kick rocks? i would think he would get the option to work out a deal first, no?.

a. he apparently didnt pick up his phone and b. eventually dufus realized he bid way over budget when taking the auction fee and import/transport to canada into factor so he really dodged the bullet
i would have happily done that deal with some basic questions answered or a ppi, that was a lovely color you dont see often even if the spec was light

Sorry I know this is the GT3 thread but I have to ask what RR models were they? I’m on the wait list with deposits at all 3 of my local dealers. All are saying 12-18months wait for the new PHEV. Some want $15k-$25k over MSRP.
