Some people like the silver housings of the Bi-Xenon’s (black LED’s were the only alternative) and they are lighter than LED’s. If a car is specced with Bi-Xenon’s from new it is not possible to change them out for LED’s later on.

Real dealers don’t pay much interest indexed to short term rates. They issue bonds and collateralize auto loans. You are thinking of a mom and pop dealer trying to haggle a GT car?

The pending rate hikes have been telegraphed for well over a year, two years? Inflation has been running hot for well over a year….

This is not a surprise. There will be no sales to be had nor will there be a big recession that craters the cost of these cars. The fundamental buyers of these cars don’t car if recession is 7 10 or 15 percent.

Borrowing costs are low. If you are a holdout because the car you want is 10-20-40k over your hypothetical budget, just pony up and get the keys (borrow if your circumstances require it).

Life is too short - just get it done or just accept these cars may not be right for you.

Or why buy a WP with sofas. SMH. If you can’t bear with the buckets, a GT(RS) car isn’t for you. Get a Carrera/Turbo ffs.

Agreed. This sold cheaper than most list prices on a WP car. Not sure on how much wiggle room is priced into those "list" prices these days. The dealers don't seem to want to budge. Could be the spec but it's a good data point none the less. Now, did a flipper grab it or a driver. Hopefully the latter. Time will tell.

I called a dealer about two hours away from me to inquire about a .2 GT3. The MSRP was around 175k, it’s listed for 210k. I offered a cash price of 200k, expecting them to meet me in the middle at 205. I was told, “this might not be the car for you, because if you won’t pay asking price, someone else will.” In all reality, he wasn’t wrong.

That's laughable. If the car were priced correctly it would've already been snapped up. Although I guess if they fish around long enough they might find a buyer eventually, depending on the location.

Next time tell him that you get to decide whether this is the right car for you not some salesman.

Everybody is a genius in a bull market...Let's see how things look like with stock markets another 10-15% lower and rates still historically low but raising.
There are a ton of people who buy things on debt or margin. Happy 991 Touring owner, not in the market so I don't care, but no one can reasonably justify these prices including the ones for Tourings right now, This is the bubble of all bubbles in cars, watches, crypto, etc.
And bubbles at some point burst.

Certainly not the way I would try to earn your business. Nothing wrong with being transparent but could've worded it better. Furthermore, if that's their pricing strategy why not be up front with prospects. Been plenty of times a GM or SA plainly stated this is the price on this car based on X (e.g. demand). No need for "this might not be the right car for you" when you're offering 200k cash on a 210k list.

Exactly this. That sales person's response was tacky and disrespectful. Could've just said that we think it's a strong price for the market so we're not looking to discount at this time. Not saying, 'this car may not be for you'. Especially when his offer was within 5% of their asking price. What's the point of insulting an interested customer?

Ya know, a response similar to that would’ve at least got me in the door. We’re talking a matter of 10k on a 200k car. If I REALLY liked the car, staying firm on the asking price probably wouldn’t have stopped me from pulling the trigger.

I didn’t call and blindly ask for a discount. I tried to do my homework and due diligence to justify why I believed I had a fair offer. I provided an example of a CPO PTS .2 similarly optioned (the example I gave actually had PCCB and lower miles) that was about 5k less. He went on to tell me how I don’t need PCCB’s, blah blah. Then he followed up with the comment about how the car I was calling about may not be the car for me. I truly didn’t think asking for 5% and hoping to get 2.5% off of a used car marked up 35k over msrp was insulting, but he sure did seem bothered by it!

Oh well. This is what buying a GT3 in 2022 looks like.

I have been getting similar responses. They say no and then I see the price drop a few days later. I have been looking for the last month and see all the same cars. Not much seems to be moving out the door. Also, based on a discussion with a dealer, I think wholesale on these cars is around MSRP.
