Gator1971’s beautiful PTS 991.1 3RS that was listed in RL classified this week sold in 48 hrs as one would expect— but ugh it went to the Lawrence Motorsport dealer in Scottsdale. Can’t wait to see the “new” value added price

I think the above illustrates the value of a dealer. As a seller, I typically list my cars on Autotrader as private party. I've sold cars to dealers and individuals. Dealers ask few questions, pay immediately, and pick up the car right away. Individuals want to see full service records, want explanations for why anything other than an oil change was performed, need a loan, waiting on something (sell their own car, discuss with wife, etc etc).
All that said, I prefer selling to an individual as long as the price is compensating me for that uncertainty.
The dealers are taking a lot of risk buying expensive cars immediately, sight unseen, no questions asked. They then offer at a price where the car isn't such a great deal, that allows people to ask all the questions, look at every single other option in the market, get required permissions, offer dealer financing which is lower interest, etc etc.
Obviously I get why it's frustrating in a hot market that dealers snag the cars, but I think that anyone looking for a great price needs to be immediately willing to act, and realize the certainty of a dealer transaction is difficult option to overcome for a seller.

I guess they figure if they buy it with little due diligence and it isn't a good as they expected, they can just flip it at auction for little or no loss, and if it it as nice as they expected mark it way up and sell retail.

Agreed, if you see a good deal, you have to be ready to ask fast. I had less than 24 hours to make my decision otherwise long list of buyers behind me would have purchased it. Crazy market right now, even for prices that don't seem reasonable compared to a year ago. From what I've heard, we are in this inflation pressure for next 12 to 24 months minimum and who knows where prices will be after that.

one word. PDK
bet a manual with that spec would fetch at least 230.
awesome car nonetheless.

Good point in this NA/manual environment. ^^^

EDIT: the car has indeed LWBS.
Also, steel brakes would have been a good fit as well, especially if one is considering tracking this beast.

A manual 997.2 GTS didn’t meet their reserve either.
