I didn’t call and blindly ask for a discount. I tried to do my homework and due diligence to justify why I believed I had a fair offer. I provided an example of a CPO PTS .2 similarly optioned (the example I gave actually had PCCB and lower miles) that was about 5k less. He went on to tell me how I don’t need PCCB’s, blah blah. Then he followed up with the comment about how the car I was calling about may not be the car for me. I truly didn’t think asking for 5% and hoping to get 2.5% off of a used car marked up 35k over msrp was insulting, but he sure did seem bothered by it!

Oh well. This is what buying a GT3 in 2022 looks like.
Is it possible the cash offer actually worked against you? Maybe they preferred to finance for the share of the loan commission. Wonder if 200k financed would have been more attractive to them.

Exactly. Most proactive buyers (like you) have done their due diligence, know the market ranges for comparable examples, and don't come in offering 150K when the market is 200k. Sure it happens but that isn't common I would speculate. As soon as any SA tells the buyer what they need and don't need you know immediately the type of person you're dealing with. There are some options that don't impact price much in the resell environment, PCCB is not in that category. As you know that's a significant option from the OEM and does carry some extra value in resell, just like bucket seats. (These aren't the options you wan't to regret post purchase.) Some buyers don't care or even want them. Nevertheless, for the SA to tell you that speaks for itself. Conversely, you know when you're with a real professional when they in turn start to discuss each comparable unit, mileage and equipment, and then restate that value in their offer. Not in an unprofessional manner, rather as an astute SA who can articulate what they are competing against...vs. you don't need this or that.

That crossed my mind before I made them an offer. I still think a cash offer just a few grand off of their asking price should hold some merit. I’ll be curious to see what happens with the pricing over the next few days / weeks. I know they’ve had the car for at least a month.

I was told, “this might not be the car for you, because if you won’t pay asking price, someone else will.” In all reality, he wasn’t wrong.
When he calls back, offer 190

I've been watching the market for a bit, lots of cars but clearly not many selling. Many dealers have probably committed to sticking it out until the spring before lowering price. I am a buyer in the $180-190k range for a clean manual car, I don't care about PTS etc. just bucket seats and Bose sound. Doesn't seem like the market is there though (yet).

I don't recall a time where I've ever seen prices go down in the spring. Perhaps the dealers are sticking to their guns because they know that more buyers will be in the market in 8 weeks?

Indeed, that's what I was saying. They wont lower the price now in anticipation of buyers coming online in the spring, at that point if no buyers lower it.

PTS Oak Green GT3T at 212k with 4 hours to go.

https://www.pcarmarket.com/auction/2...gt3-touring-1/

Looks like seller will not have a DME report available. On the spectrum to not at all to critical, how important do you all think that is for vetting a manual GT3?

For that car, I would say yes. Maybe I am seeing something that is not there, but look at the photos taken on the lift from under the front. Is that the factory paint underneath? See photo 138, top left. It almost looks as if there is some road rash or corrosion painted over. The car in general also looks to have been driven hard and not taken care of. Also I am not buying the explanation that the chips in the rear are not down past the paint given the discoloration.

Car looks fine underneath it’s typical over spray and it’s under the car, and car looks cared for chips are apart of driving. I think this world of PPF and a car not have minimal chips is zero unless the car was never driven. Good luck to the buyer if a member here ……

I agree that the car looks fine underneath. The front lip has some scrapes on the bottom - as do the black bottom plastic bits in front of the front wheels. Even with FAL - if you drive the car there will be scrapes. That’s why these parts were designed to be easily replaced.

Also, the Porsche side stripes are pretty darn thin. I had black ones on a previous silver car and had the same markings. Most of mine seemed to come from highway driving.

To some it's apparently not a requirement - the car has bids.
To others (like me) - no chance I'd bid on a car w/o a DME. The issue is in part the condition of the motor but more so the hassle a bad over-rev report would create when I sell the car. I wouldn't take that risk.

IMHO - The lack of a DME will exclude some bidders and therefore the final price of the car is possibly lower than it would have been w/ a clean DME. More bidders, higher prices in the aggregate. On the whole a missing DME has to ding the price. Of course this approach might be better than posting a bad DME . . . Long/short - no way I'd bid.

These bids usually go higher in the last few minutes. Will be interesting to see what the 911R does that’s at 315k now ………….several weeks ago they were in the 400k plus range.

I also think that this OGM touring is stunning and that it is in great shape cosmetically… for a car that was driven.
I will admit though, as much as I think the car is in great shape mechanically, I am still a bit put off by the fact that the seller could not make the effort to seek a DME.
I mean, when you try to sell a $200k+ P-car, isn’t that part of the minimum effort we could expect from the seller? Or is it that challenging to get these DME reports!?

That R has to be one of the worst specs ever. DMFW and 18-ways. No thanks.
