I have asked to find out if this recoding can be done at their expense during PPI.
Lets see what they say. If not this, the other cars on the market with similar miles/spec is 7-10k more money (literally identical cars).

I think the only reason the 2'nd key is 'important' when selling a car is because buyers/flippers don't want to have to pay to get one. Otherwise, not a big deal. Just have them knock a few hundred off the ask

Update : I was ready to proceed but then I hit another snag. And this shows you my level of inexperience with the GT cars. It turns out that my insurance agency (AllState) will not insure this car. Neither statefarm, nor Geico. The insurance agencies are telling me that everyone now has an artificial 175-180k barrier OCN (original cost new) and anything above that is a no go.
My only option is to go with a company like Haggerty or Chubbs and the cheapest quote I am looking at is $5000/year, for just the RS. I bought many cars in the 120-160 range and never had this issue before and my premium always went up/down give or take $50.
I need to process this and see if I am even OK with spending that kind of money for insurance. As a person who has had 0 claims in 20+ years of driving (in fact 0 claims anywhere including home owners), I consider insurance a cost that I should avoid as much as I can.
are there any insurance agencies that are more GT friendly?

For the record, I am paying $150/month for $200,000 worth of cars right now. But somehow to insure another $200,000, the cost is $420/month in addition which is just ridiculous.

Also Porsche offers insurance directly, underwritten by another company.

thanks guys. This forum is great. So all hope is not lost. I will check Grundy and other porsche insurance mentioned.
What I have been told by 2 people this morning was this is something new that started at the end of last year. so some of you may have grandfathered into your policies, not sure.

I moved from Liberty Mutual to Geico in March after the former jacked my rates again and wouldn't lower them to something that was an acceptable increase. So if this was something instituted last year it didn't impact me for some reason.
I hope you find a solution that works -- having this deal go south over car insurance would **** me off.

That's surprising that they are basing it off of the original cost. They are insuring the car at what the current value is not what the original value was.
Also would surprise me since the people that own $200k cars typically have a couple, aren't driving them much, which equates to a low risk for the insurance company.

Well, this is a surprise to me too.
One statefarm agent couldnt push it through, another independent agent managed to get me $2400/year. Still expensive but half of Haggerty.
This has been a learning experience for me. I will keep shopping and not give up
