I will never sell my 2016RS. I have been a Porsche owner for 30 plus years. It may not be a classic but its a keeper for sure.

Like it much better than my 997RS .1 and .2

It you like to go fast and stop fast, drive in twisty canyons, and want reliable...it can't be beat. Just passed 24k miles.

anyone here planning to keep their RS for a decade or more? Or are you all moving on to the next latest and greatest?
I doubt I will keep my RS for more than a few years, unless I really don’t like the 992 or they stop putting a high revving N/A engine in it.

let me clarify myself..

991RS is a great car
991RS runs circle around 997RS
but 991RS will not be classic like 997RS
my GUESS is, 991 had new engine architecture, new tech (rear steering), new interface... I would believe 992 will improve all of that so called NEW tech.
997 is outdated
you cant not really outdate an outdated technology.
so it's a classic.

Not RS, but I plan to keep my 991.2 GT3 for a decade or more. I’m certainly going to skip the entire 992 generation!

Didnt you just name all of the RS generations though? And all but the current are classics? Wouldn’t it be more likely that eventually this generation will be viewed in the same way as tech progresses with electric and hybrids? Not that we should be concerned about this now, but it does seem to be interesting when you lay it out the way you did.

Porsche made a lot more 991s than previous gens. I am sure someone can provide the numbers.

its my GUESS that 992 will be petro
and if so, 992 will be "classic" vs. 991.
now if 992 is hybrid or nuclear powered. then 991 will be classic.

I wouldn't say they overproduced though. For the most part, dealers can easily sell new GT3 RS at sticker even in today's market condition. Used will take a hit but that's in line with all cars and the hit is not that bad in comparison.

Overproduced is what McLaren does, where dealer inventory just piles up with new cars because event at a $50K discount they can't offload them.
Not correct.

Then by this logic, the 996 is not a classic. Same basic platform as the 997, just not as good.

Fact is , nobody knows . Enjoy your car . Most people won’t keep it long enough for it to matter . I know I’m really enjoying my .2 RS classic or not . Also just got the Weissach carbon steering wheel today. Pretty cool bonus I didn’t even know I was getting !
